The Texas music community has lost one of its own. 💔

Frank Beard, legendary drummer for ZZ Top, has passed away. A Texas native and longtime member of one of the state’s most iconic bands, Beard helped create a sound that became unmistakable around the world.

Before ZZ Top, Beard was part of the North Texas music scene, where his path crossed with future bandmate Dusty Hill years before they became part of one of Texas’ most iconic bands. Those roots make his remarkable legacy especially meaningful to us here.

For those of us who make, play and love music in North Texas, his passing hits close to home. Frank Beard leaves behind an extraordinary legacy, and generations of musicians inspired by the beat he kept.

Rest in peace, Frank. Thank you for the music.

On this day in music history in 1965, Sonny & Cher hit No. 1 on the US singles chart with "I Got You Babe." ❤️

The duo held the top spot for three weeks with one of the most recognizable songs of the decade.

Sonny Bono was reportedly inspired to write the song after hearing Bob Dylan use the word "babe" in "It Ain't Me Babe."
