📍Ever notice signs stuck in medians or along busy corners?
These are called “bandit signs,” and in Fort Worth, placing them in the public right-of-way, like sidewalks, medians, and utility poles, is against city code.

These signs create safety concerns and clutter our streets.
✅ If you're looking to advertise, signs need to be placed on private property with the owner’s permission.

Let’s keep Fort Worth looking its best, for everyone.

The June report is in, and it’s been a busy one! From removing illegal bandit signs to relaunching our Code Rangers program, we’re working hard to support safe, vibrant neighborhoods.

We're especially excited to welcome 12 new volunteers as part of our Summer Code Rangers team. These dedicated residents are helping us foster healthier, happier, and more engaged communities across Fort Worth.

📍 Let’s build a better Fort Worth, together!

📢 Ever seen signs like these at busy corners?

They're called bandit signs, and in Fort Worth, they’re illegal when placed in the public right-of-way—like on medians, sidewalks, utility poles, and street corners.

These signs create visual clutter, pose safety risks, and violate city code. Our crews remove them daily, and violators can be fined.

✅ Want to advertise legally? Signs must stay on private property with the owner’s permission, never in the public right-of-way.

Let’s keep Fort Worth clean, safe, and sign-smart.

🎉 Congrats to Our First C.O.D.E. Leadership Program Graduates! 🎓

We’d like to extend a big congratulations to these 20 dedicated team members—and their inspiring program lead—on completing the inaugural Cultivating Opportunities for Development and Expertise (C.O.D.E.) Leadership Program.

Over five months, they committed to growing their leadership skills through hands-on workshops, expert-led sessions, and plenty of self-reflection.

💬 “This program inspired me to continue creating a space for growth and curiosity.” – Program Lead
💬 “The leadership program gave me practical tools I’ve already used in the field. It’s helped me lead with empathy, improve communication, and build stronger teams.” – Graduate

We’re so proud of this group and excited to see where their leadership journey takes them next. Stay tuned, Level 2 is already in the works!👏

Today marks Tony Hiller’s last Friday with the City of Fort Worth—and what a legacy he leaves behind.

After 32 years of public service, including 25 with the City of Fort Worth, Tony is officially retiring. From launching Fort Worth’s first West Nile surveillance program to helping care for more than 30,000 animals, his contributions to public health and safety are immeasurable.

At his retirement party, Tony said it best:
“Enjoy life... I’ve discovered there is life after work, and I’ll tell you what it’s like next week when I don’t have to get up with an alarm clock.”

We’ll miss his leadership, humor, and passion—but we’re so excited for his next chapter.

Enjoy your well-earned rest (and unlimited video games)! 🎮🚗

Protect Our Egrets ⚠️🕊

When egrets start nesting, the entire site becomes protected. (Migratory Bird Treaty Act 1918).
You cannot disturb the area, the birds, or their nests.

⚖️ Penalties for Violations
• Fines & Jail Time
• Hunting License: Suspension or revocation
• Equipment: Possible confiscation of fi****ms and hunting gear
________________________________________

WHAT YOU CAN DO
✅ Prevention
• Trim trees before nesting season to discourage rookeries.
• Egrets prefer dense canopies — thinning branches makes the area less appealing.

✅ Early Harassment
(Allowed before nesting begins – October through January)
• Noisemakers, Water spray, Reflective streamers, Scare-eye balloons

✅ For assistance or questions:
• U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, USDA Wildlife Services, or Texas Parks & Wildlife Department
