🌩 North Texas: Marginal Risk for Strong Storms on Sunday
North Texas, here’s your heads‑up for Sunday into Sunday night — we’re looking at a Marginal Risk (Level 1/5) for severe storms as a cold front drops into the region. This isn’t a major outbreak setup, but it is one of those days where a few storms could pack a punch.
What to Expect
⚡ Scattered thunderstorms, especially by afternoon and evening
đź’¨ A few storms may produce strong downburst winds
🌧 Heavy rain at times, with pockets of localized flooding
🌩 Frequent lightning, even outside the strongest cells
Timing
Sunday Afternoon: Storms begin developing along and ahead of the front
Sunday Night: Storm coverage increases, especially south and east of DFW
Monday: Additional storms possible as the front lingers
Why This Setup Matters
The SPC highlights a moist, unstable airmass ahead of the front across north/central Texas. While wind shear isn’t overly strong, there’s enough instability for a few storms to briefly turn severe with gusty winds or hail.
NWS Fort Worth also notes the potential for locally heavy rainfall and disruptions to outdoor plans.
🧰 How to Prepare
Keep multiple ways to get warnings
Have a plan if you’re outdoors Sunday afternoon or evening
Never drive through flooded roads
Bring pets and loose outdoor items inside if storms approach
👍 Bottom Line
Sunday isn’t a high‑end severe weather day, but it is a day to stay weather‑aware. A few storms could get strong, and heavy rain may cause issues in spots. I’ll keep you updated as we get closer.

🌬️ North Texas Weather Update – Saturday, Jan 17
Heads up, North Texas! Today brings a mix of chilly flurries and a heightened fire risk across Central Texas. Here's what you need to know:

Never park over tall grass.

Dispose of ci******es responsibly.
