We are deeply grateful for the small businesses that generously support and sponsor our program and show— including two of our long-standing partners, Jakovich Marketing and Boo Yah Custom Clothing. As holiday shopping ramps up, we want to take the next few weeks to shine a spotlight on some of the small businesses that strengthen and enrich our industry.

If you own an equine-related business, or a business that regularly attends AQHA, APHA and/or NSBA events, we invite you to email us at [email protected] with a brief overview of your company and the products or services you offer. Please send a few high-resolution photos that best represent your business, and don't forget to include links to your website and social media channels.

From the submissions received, we will select several businesses to feature throughout the coming weeks in an effort to encourage our community to shop "local" and support the small businesses that play an important role in our industry.

We are happy to welcome The Pandemic to Premier Sires!

The Pandemic is a 2020 AQHA/APHA/ABRA stallion sired by Ultimately Fabulous out of Big Yellow Machine. In addition to being an APHA Reserve World Champion, The Pandemic (who is registered with APHA as Pandemic) won the APHA #2 Honor Roll in Masters Amateur Longe Line. He is also an APHA three time Reserve National Champion, Coast to Coast Breeders Futurity Longe Line Champion, and Heritage Classic Longe Line Champion. From his first foal crop, who just hit the show pen this year, he is already an APHA World Champion sire and PtHA Reserve World Champion sire. For more information on Pandemic, who is owned by Laurie Roden, you can visit his page at Panda aqha/apha Stallion.

All foals sired by Pandemic are now eligible to be enrolled in Premier Sires and a half price breeding is available through our stallion service sale.

Although this page is typically dedicated to Premier Sires content, I hope you’ll allow me a brief exception to share a new project I’ve been working on—one that I believe many of you will still find relevant and interesting.

In the United States, women own more than 14 million businesses—representing nearly 40% of all businesses nationwide. Collectively, they contribute an estimated $3 trillion to the national economy each year. Yet despite their significant impact, only 12% of women-owned business generate more than $100,000 in annual revenue, just 6.2% exceed $250,000, and only 1.9% reach $1 million or more.

The truth is that while entrepreneurship can be immensely rewarding, it’s also exceptionally challenging. No business school can fully prepare you for the realities of building and running a business. The pressures entrepreneurs carry are often difficult for others to truly understand, and on top of that, there is the unspoken expectation to always appear strong and in control. Admitting struggles or showing vulnerability can feel nearly impossible, even when support is needed most.

That’s why relationships that offer perspective, encouragement, and shared expertise are invaluable. They make the demands of running a business feel less isolating and far more manageable. It’s not just about exchanging contacts—it’s about connecting with peers who understand your values, your lifestyle, and the realities of running a business. When those peers share a similar mindset and way of life, the conversations, insights, and collaborations that emerge are even more relevant and meaningful.

That’s why on this Small Businesses Saturday, I’m thrilled to introduce WEST Collective. WEST Collective—Women Entrepreneurs Standing Together (WEST)—is a community for women entrepreneurs and business owners rooted in the western, equine and agriculture industries. Founded on collaboration, shared knowledge, and authentic support, WEST Collective will empower women to grow, thrive and succeed—together.

WEST Collective will officially be launching soon. If you’ve already shared your contact information with me, you will receive an email in the coming weeks with additional details. If you would like to be among the first to receive updates—along with an exclusive pre-launch offer—please visit www.westcollective.com and join our email list.

WEST Collective is something that I have envisioned for years and exactly what I wished existed while I was in the thick of building my own business. I’m excited to see it come to life and connect with the incredible women entrepreneurs and business owners who will be part of it!
