The April issue of Premier is online now.

In a program known for producing consistency, confidence, and excellence, Aaron Moses is once again preparing a group of standout prospects for this year’s Maiden Western Pleasure events. But beyond the talent and training, each of these horses carries something more: a story shaped by timing, resilience, and the people who believed in them at exactly the right moment. Get to know Aaron’s lineup of maiden contenders in this month’s cover story.

In this month’s Breeder Spotlight, meet Sara Jackson-Vance, an emergency medicine physician whose thoughtfully built program is producing exceptional hunter under saddle horses, including Congress Champion Jus Be Good.

We also follow the path of Hunter Ball, who is building a career in the industry as the assistant trainer to Bruce Vickery and Anthony Montes.

And finally, get to know Amy Engelskirger, whose passion for horses led her to create Glamorous Threads, a full-service mobile tack store seen at major events, including The Premier.

A few months ago, we compiled the data showing that The Premier is one of the most affordable major circuits in the country. Now, we’re proud to share that according to the National Snaffle Bit Association, it also stands as the third highest-paying event of 2025!

It’s also worth noting that this figure doesn’t tell the full story. There is more than $100,000 in additional payouts not reflected here, as our Limited classes were not NSBA-approved.

This program isn’t perfect. At times, things may take longer than they would with larger associations, and there will always be opportunities to improve. But being both one of the most affordable and one of the highest-paying shows is something we are incredibly proud of and work hard every day to make possible.

We are happy to welcome The Best Bet Yet back to Premier Sires!

The Best Bet Yet is a 2016 ApHC stallion sired by Too Sleepy To Zip out of Impulsive Bet. A dominant force in the show pen, The Best Bet Yet is a 19 time World, Congress, NSBA, National, High Point and Reserve Champion, combining an elite pedigree with undeniable performance and presence. This World Champion sire is proudly owned by Gale Gores.

A half price breeding to The Best Bet Yet is now available through our stallion service sale and all of his foals are eligible to be nominated at the respective rate for their age.

The schedule for The Premier has been posted on our website.

Condensing the show by an entire day, while doing our best to minimize class conflicts and limit the number of times futurity horses are asked to show each day, was a complex process. We sincerely appreciate your patience as we worked through these adjustments.

In addition to adding Novice Select classes to the AQHA portion of the show, our Breeders Futurity has also expanded to include the Level 2 division in our 4 Year Old Open and Non-Pro Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle classes.

We look forward to welcoming everyone to Kentucky.

The March issue of Premier is live!

This month’s cover story shares Mallory Moore’s full-circle reunion with A Sudden Holiday—the multiple World and Reserve World Champion sire she once owned, lost and ultimately brought home again.

In our Assistant Trainer Spotlight, Alexandra Polakova reflects on moving to a country she had never even visited at just twenty years old, all to pursue her dream of becoming a horse trainer. Nearly a decade later, she is an integral part of Dare to Dream Performance Horses.

We also take an in-depth look at the state of the weekend horse shows—once the heartbeat of the industry—now navigating thinner margins, shifting participation, and an uncertain future.

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, exhibitors share the good luck charms and show day rituals they rely on.

This month’s Breeder Spotlight features Paul and Tami Thurston, who, on a quiet road in eastern North Carolina aptly named Prospect Place, are raising prospects, nurturing potential, and allowing horses to become what they’re meant to be.

We also spotlight Shane Rux Photography the official show photographer of The Premier. Long after the final class is called, the photographs are what remain—and that’s where Shane and Julie leave their mark.

Just a quick update:

2025 foal nominations are still in the process of being entered. We understand the timeline may feel lengthy (and it is), however, since these horses are not eligible to show until May and do not require enrollment numbers until closer to the April entry deadline (more information on that will be shared soon), these nominations must occasionally take a lower priority than the many other tasks required to keep the program running and prepare for a major horse show.

One of the primary reasons the process takes so much time is that each year a significant percentage of nomination forms are submitted with incomplete or incorrect information. For example, if a horse is not yet registered, the form instructs that the name field be left blank; however, we often receive pending names, barn names, or other entries instead. Because of these inconsistencies, nominations cannot be processed through a bulk upload, as the system cannot distinguish between correct and incorrect entries when a field has been filled in. As a result, each nomination must be reviewed and entered individually, which requires a considerable amount of time. To be clear, this is not meant to place blame—only to provide some context for why the process takes longer than many might expect.

Moving forward, one of the most helpful ways to speed up processing is to ensure the form is completed exactly as instructed. Taking an extra minute or two to review the information before submitting makes a significant difference on the administrative side and helps ensure that all nominations can be processed more quickly.

If you need proof of enrollment before the records appear in the database, please refer to the receipt you received at the time of submission or your card statement for confirmation.

We appreciate your patience and will post an update here once all nominations have been processed.
