FUN AT WILDERNESS TRAILS ZOO: The Wickson District Library’s end of the month summer reading series adventure took children and parents to Birch Run’s Wilderness Trails Zoo for their “Rainbow in the Rain Forest” Color Quest on Thursday, July 24. During this vibrant summer reading adventure, guests were treated to story times inside the immersive Rainforest Encounter. As families listened, stories came to life, especially with a sloth named Lieutenant Dan climbing overhead (photo above and right). Young patron Will Hawkins got hands-on with Nubbins, a friendly armadillo, while the Malowinski family marveled at the up-close animal encounters. The event was part of the library’s “Color Our World” summer reading series, encouraging families to read, explore, and experience nature together, Library Early Learning Specialist Beth Emmons said.
