Joseph Courville, 22, an Eagle Scout who earned scouting’s highest rank in 2018, and his younger brother Nathaniel Courville, 15, currently a Life Scout completing the final steps toward Eagle, recently put their training, leadership and calmness under pressure into action after their father was injured in a fall from a roof.
The sons of Melissa and Jeffrey Courville of Frankenmuth, the brothers responded immediately when the accident happened on Memorial Day. Before the fall even occurred, both boys had noticed their father taking risks and repeatedly warned him to be careful.
When the accident happened, the scouts quickly sprang into action. They alerted their mother, assessed the situation, remained calm and began caring for their father’s injuries. Using skills learned through scouting and first aid training, they carefully wrapped his wounds to help stop the bleeding and keep the injuries clean while helping stabilize and assist him into the vehicle for transport to urgent care.
