BLOWIN' SMOKE | It's been called "the redneckest redneckery in the history of redneckdom" (in a good way). The annual Eastern Shore Threshermen show draws thousands of steam engine and antique tractor enthusiasts, agricultural aficionados, saw-mill sages, locomotive lords, flea market hagglers, and generally good folks to a field in Caroline County every August! We strolled around the bustling, blazing hot grounds this past weekend, and ran into one of Delmarva's greatest photographers along the way. 🚜

SWEET CAROLINE | It's the first full weekend of August, and that means one thing on Delmarva: The incredible Eastern Shore Threshermen show and market in Caroline County, Maryland. We devoted Saturday to visiting the show and a couple of nearby businesses. (By the way, if you want to go, you've still got a few hours today!)

Topics discussed:

● A wee bit of Caroline County history.

● The different (in a good way!) breed of kids driving tractors all over the place at the Threshermen show.

● The sensation of traveling back in time amongst the working antique steam engines.

● Snagging an old RAR tap handle for $5 bucks.

● Running into Russell A. Taylor III, who took some awesome photos at the event.

● The Amish and Mennonite presence at the show.

● A now-traditional post-show lunch and beers at Denton's legendary Market Street Public House.

● What do you look for in a craft brewery? The good and the bad.

● Checking out Eden Town Brewing Co. for the very first time, and enjoying a pretzel, crab dip, and mind-blowing mustard from the Caroline’s at Eden Town food truck.

CRAB DIP DONUTS | The Frozen Farmer nearly broke the Internet with their fresh homemade donuts oozing crab dip and seasoned with Old Bay or J.O. Spice. Crystal stopped by Evans Farms and grabbed one of each for a backyard taste test, and washed them down with Harmony Hill Coffee. πŸ₯―

A new brewery can have a beautiful building, rows of stainless steel fermentation tanks, natural wood table tops, fairy-lit outdoor seating, mustachioed barmen, and a food truck . . . . . and it's not worth a hill of beans if the beer sucks. We've all seen it before. But Denton's Eden Town Brewing has GREAT beer as well as all of the above! Don't even think about driving 404 without taking a 4-0-detour to this cool spot. 🍻

Denton's legendary Market Street Public House is always a good decision. Owner and barman Brian Tyler is truly a gentleman and a scholar. We recommend . . . . everything! 🍻

● The Eastern Shore Threshermen show this coming weekend.

● The clowns at Delaware DNREC want to ban magnet fishing.

● The Black Angus cows on Route 24 near Laurel went to . . . Disney World.

PARADISE | Last week we got to spend a few hours on the stunningly beautiful island of RoatÑn, which is located 40 miles off the coast of Honduras. With its breathtaking natural beauty, clear water, and rich local culture, RoatÑn is a true Caribbean paradise. We only shot a few minutes of footage during our brief visit, but we hope you'll enjoy these glimpses of the island. 🏝️

ISLAND CHICKENS | We'd heard that there are wild chickens on Coco Cay, a tiny island in the Bahamas which is owned by Royal Caribbean. The rumors are true! Between stints of relaxation and hydration on busy South Beach, we wandered the surprisingly quiet trails and met a bunch of feral chickens, including a beautiful rooster. 😎

We recorded episode 47 of the podcast on the biggest cruise ship in the world, Royal Caribbean's Star of the Seas, whilst cruising about 15 miles off the coast of Cuba!

Topics discussed:

● The staggering size of the Star of the Seas, which is five times bigger than the Titanic.

● The incredible level of service provided by the staff.

● Don't skip the main dining room, which is as good as any five-star restaurant.

● A brilliant and memorable barman named Edge.

● Ship shenanigans including a rash of thefts of decorative magnets from cruisers' doors.
