The Kentucky State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement is now accepting applications for the CVE Inspector I position. The primary role of a CVE Inspector I is to inspect commercial vehicles to determine compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, size and weight regulations, and highway use and other state requirements for commercial vehicles traveling in Kentucky. All lanes of travel are back open.

**TRAFFIC UPDATE**

Kentucky State Police (KSP) Post 12 is currently investigating a fatal collision on I-64 near the 61 mile-marker. The collision involved a semi tractor trailer and a GMC SUV and took place in the westbound lanes. Both westbound lanes of travel will be shutdown until further notice. For those traveling westbound, it may be in your best interest to detour from I-64 prior to the Midway exit.

The Kentucky State Police Central Laboratory is now accepting applications for the position of Forensic Biologist I. The individual hired for this position will work in the laboratory in Frankfort, KY. Forensic Biologists will be hired for Serological Analysis, DNA Casework, and DNA Database. The hired individual will complete the training program, which lasts approximately one year and includes reading assignments, practical examinations, mock trials for testimony, and competency exams. Morning all!

Most of Post 12 school districts have begun their 2026-2027 school years this week! Along with more traffic on the roadways, Post 12 is currently experiencing large amounts of rainfall. Resulting in flood in some areas. Motorists, be safe. Prepare for slower moving traffic. Keep your eyes on the road and avoid unnecessary distractions while driving. Y’all stay safe. God bless. 🙏🏼

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 7, 2026) – Yesterday, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) honored 11 civilian employees for their outstanding commitment to public safety during the agency’s annual Civilian Awards ceremony. Awards presented included the 2025 Civilian of the Year, Career Achievement, Forensic Services Support Award and Supervisor of the Year, among others.

KSP’s 800 civilian employees serve in a wide range of essential roles, including examining forensic evidence in KSP laboratories, administering driver testing exams, providing emergency telecommunications services, and preparing nutritious meals for cadets and troopers.

During today’s award ceremony, KSP Commissioner Phillip Burnett Jr. expressed the importance of the agency’s civilian staff members: “Our civilian employees are the backbone of this agency. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, their dedication, professionalism, and servant hearts strengthen this agency every day and make a lasting impact on public safety.”
