Questions Raised Over Born Africans page and Shaka’s Absence

Questions are being raised among fans of legendary Gambian music group Born Africans following apparent changes to the group’s Facebook profile that seem to exclude original member Dr. Shaka.

For many longtime supporters, Born Africans has always been associated with the trio of Shaka, Python and Ranking Fire, who helped establish the group as one of the most influential names in Gambian music. Their music and journey have also inspired many artists from the younger generation.

The changes have sparked concerns about possible divisions within the group. While the exact circumstances behind the profile changes remain unclear, fans are calling for any differences among the members to be handled privately, respectfully and with maturity.

Supporters argue that Born Africans’ collective legacy is bigger than any current disagreement and are urging the group’s members to preserve the brotherhood and unity that defined their journey.

One fan summed up the sentiment humorously by questioning the identity of the third person featured on the new poster, saying: “We know Shaka, Python and Ranking Fire.”

As discussions continue, fans remain hopeful that any issues can be resolved peacefully and that the legendary trio can once again be seen united.

UK-based Gambian rapper Pa Salieu has shared a heartbreaking account of the d*atĥ of his cousin, Sahara, three days ago in The Gambia. According to her brother, Sahara suffered severe burns after coming into contact with an exposed live wire reportedly connected to NAWEC in a residential area. She was taken to a hospital in Banjul, where she reportedly endured severe pain and required surgery.

Salieu alleged that the electricity went off during her operation, raising concerns about the hospital’s backup power and the wider state of essential services in the country. He questioned the continued electricity and healthcare challenges faced by Gambians, arguing that his cousin’s d*atĥ appears to have been preventable and calling for a full investigation and accountability from NAWEC, the hospital and relevant authorities.

In an emotional tribute, Salieu expressed his pain over not being able to be present during his cousin’s final moments and vowed that her family would never forget what happened. He also connected her d*atĥ to broader frustrations among young Gambians, including the lack of opportunities and irregular migration, while calling for accountability, action and meaningful reform. He prayed for Sahara’s soul and for her to be granted Jannatul Firdaus.
