🎉 Happy Birthday to my stepdad, Modesto Perez! ❤️
Yesterday was the celebration, but today is the actual birthday of a man with a truly big heart. We were blessed to spend the day surrounded by family, friends, laughter, live music, beautiful views, and enough food to feed an army.
🐑🔥 We finally got to experience a whole lamb cooked underground, and it was every bit as impressive as it sounds.
The lamb spent hours in the ground covered with agave leaves and foil, with 10 chickens and a giant pot of soup underneath catching all those incredible flavors. The soup was loaded with green beans, carrots, cabbage, chickpeas, and goodness from the lamb above.
Add in different kinds of salsa, fresh lime, beans, rice, tortillas, tres leches cake, cupcakes, and great company, and you've got a celebration we'll be talking about for a long time. We planned to get more dessert photos, but by the time we made it over there, the cupcakes and desserts had already been demolished. 😂
The best part wasn't just the food. It was finally meeting some of the many godchildren and extended family we've heard about for years, spending time with the littles in the pool, getting some much-needed movement in, and watching everyone come together to celebrate someone who means so much to so many people.
