Wisconsin Republicans weigh proposals to expand access to fi****ms

Republicans state lawmakers are considering proposals that would increase access to guns in Wisconsin, including one that would make it easier to carry concealed weapons and another that would further enshrine gun rights in the state constitution.

At a public hearing of the Assembly Committee on State Affairs on Wednesday, lawmakers heard testimony about a bill that would remove the need for people to have a permit to carry concealed weapons. At the hearing, firearm lobbyists argued that permits are a bureaucratic burden on what should be an expansive right. Anti-violence activists countered that the bill would do away with safety measures, like training requirements, that licenses require.

Currently, 29 other states do not require a license to concealed carry, according to the U.S. Concealed Carry Association, which advocates for such laws.

Elsewhere at the Capitol on Wednesday, the Assembly Judiciary Committee debated a change to the Wisconsin Constitution that would expand how the state defines the purpose of bearing arms. Currently, the state constitution says people “have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other lawful purpose.” It states that that right is “fundamental, but it is not absolute.”

The proposed change would redefine that right as “inalienable” and that “any restriction on that right shall be subject to strict scrutiny.” That refers to a high legal standard in which challenges must be motivated by achieving a compelling state interest.

Milwaukee-area flood was FEMA's second-most expensive 2025 disaster

The Federal Emergency Management Agency has paid residents of Milwaukee, Waukesha and Washington counties more than $195 million as of Jan. 6 for damage caused by August's historic flood, making it the agency's second most costly 2025 disaster.

It's only about $3 million short of what FEMA paid for January's catastrophic wildfires in southern California, which killed 31 people and burned around 40,000 acres, according to a Journal Sentinel analysis of last year's major disaster declarations.

FEMA has approved more than 36,500 applications for individual assistance in the Milwaukee-area for flood damage so far.

Wisconsin man accused of killing parents to fund Trump assassination plot set to enter plea deal

A Wisconsin man accused of killing his parents and stealing their money to fund a plan to assassinate President Donald Trump is set to enter a plea deal resolving the case Thursday.

Nikita Casap, 18, is expected to agree to the deal during a morning hearing in Waukesha County Circuit Court in suburban Milwaukee. He goes into the hearing facing multiple charges, including two homicide counts, two counts of hiding a co**se and theft, with a trial scheduled to begin March 2.

According to a criminal complaint, investigators believe Casap shot his mother, Tatiana Casap, and his stepfather, Donald Mayer, at their home in the village of Waukesha on or around Feb. 11.

He lived with the decomposing bodies for weeks before fleeing across the country in his stepfather’s SUV with $14,000 in cash, jewelry, passports, his stepfather’s gun and the family dog, according to the complaint. He was eventually arrested during a traffic stop in Kansas on Feb. 28.

Federal authorities have accused Casap of planning his parents’ murders, buying a drone and explosives and sharing his plans with others, including a Russian speaker. They said in a federal search warrant that he wrote a manifest calling for Trump’s assassination and was in touch with others about his plan to kill Trump and overthrow the U.S. government.
“The killing of his parents appeared to be an effort to obtain the financial means and autonomy necessary to carrying out his plan,” that warrant said.

After fatal ICE shooting, DHS and Minnesota officials share contrasting accounts

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent shot and killed a woman yesterday in Minneapolis, officials said.

The incident sparked a large protest near the scene of the shooting, where demonstrators chanted Renee Nicole Good, the name of the person officials identified as the victim.

Contrasting narratives emerged over what led to the shooting.

Department of Homeland Security spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said Good was shot after people began blocking officers during an immigration-related operation.

DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said she was engaged in "an act of domestic terrorism."

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey pushed back on those claims, saying, "Having seen the video of myself, I want to tell everybody directly that is b---s---."

President Donald Trump defended the ICE agent and said the officer was "viciously" run over.

In a Truth Social post, he wrote: "It is hard to believe he is alive, but is now recovering in the hospital."

NBC Did Something No Other Outlet Will Likely Do Regarding the ICE Shooting in Minneapolis

An ICE agent shot and killed a deranged leftist who tried to ram them in Minneapolis. Now, the liberal media is running amok, peddling the lies from Democrats because you know the drill—this is the Democrat-media complex at work. Yet, one outlet deserves some kudos for showing all angles and a frame-by-frame of the video that captured the incident.

NBC’s Tom Winters explained the shooting in real-time and even showed the angle where you see the ICE agent being hit by a 3,000-lbs vehicle…it shows this was a justified shooting.

You can’t run over cops. In this country, that’ll get you shot.

Former FBI, CBP agents say Minneapolis ICE shooting likely to be ruled justified

Former federal agents say that the Minneapolis ICE shooting that left one woman dead will likely be ruled a justified use of force by investigators.

When officers ordered a woman to exit her vehicle which was blocking the road, video footage shows the woman accelerated, hitting one officer. That officer fired several times into the vehicle, striking the woman, who later died of her injuries.

“In my mind, when I saw this, I immediately said, ‘justified shooting,’” Jonathan Gilliam, a former FBI special agent, Navy SEAL, and federal air marshal, told Just the News.

“That's the thing people have to realize, if you aim a vehicle at a human, it's the same as aiming a gun at them, but if you step on the gas, it's no different than pulling the trigger,” Gilliam explained on the Just the News, No Noise TV show on Wednesday. “And when the response is for the officer to shoot you, that's because they're doing the same as if you pulled the trigger of a gun. They're trying to eliminate the threat.”

Art Del Cueto, Border Security Advisor at the Federation for American Immigration Reform and a former border patrol agent with more than 20 years of service, agreed that the shooting would likely be ruled as justified.

He said investigators usually look for three things when determining whether a use of deadly force was justified, “Did [the suspect] have the means? Did they have the intent, and did they have the opportunity” to put officers in harm's way.

“I think all those three things have been met when they were attacking a federal agent,” Del Cueto told Just the News on Wednesday.

What to know about RFK Jr.'s new food pyramid

New U.S. dietary guidelines unveiled yesterday make notable changes to prior guidance about healthy eating, placing a higher emphasis on protein and full-fat dairy while advising against sugar and highly processed foods.

"My message is clear: Eat real food," Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said, adding that he was "ending the war on saturated fats."

Protein, dairy and healthy fats, along with vegetables and fruits, dominate while whole grains are de-emphasized.

However, the American Heart Association warned the recommendations could lead people to consume too much sodium and saturated fats, bringing higher risk of cardiovascular disease.

Quieter streets linked to increase in home prices

How much more money are homeowners willing to pay for a house with less traffic noise?

According to a recent study, a lot.

Researchers analyzed home prices for nearly 600,000 properties in Florida before and after sound barriers were constructed along busy highways. They found that in the five years after noise barriers were built, the price of properties within 100 meters (about 109 yards) of a barrier saw a rise of almost 6.8% compared with homes in a control group.

But in the five years after noise barriers were built, properties closest to the busy highway saw an immediate and largely permanent increase in property values, above and beyond any normal price moves.

The authors estimated that traffic noise reduces property values by about $110 billion nationally. Lower-income homeowners often bear the brunt of this, the researchers say, because their neighborhoods tend to be most affected by things like pollution, crime and traffic noise.

Hotel experts reveal which room numbers to book for a more peaceful stay

When checking into a hotel, many travelers don’t think twice about the room number assigned to them — but it could be the single factor with the most impact on your stay.

If you’re looking for lodging with as little noise as possible, consider the room number and floor layout.

Experts advise vacationers wanting some quiet time should avoid hotel room numbers that end in -01 or -02, Travel Noire reported.
00:00
00:00
These experts claim that rooms ending with those numbers are typically located closest to the elevator, stairs, housekeeping, ice machines and other service areas on each floor.

While this may hold true for some hotels, it’s not always the case. Depending on floor layout, the rooms that end in -01 or -02 might actually be the furthest away option from the areas with heavy foot traffic.

Different room numbers may also mean different amenities and room types, such as type of bed or beds, view, and so on.

Luckily, there are some ways you can ensure that your room number is the one you’ll want for your stay.

Travelers can call the hotel in advance to ask if they can be placed in a room in the quietest section of the floor.

If a guest would prefer to see the room in person and see the rest of the floor’s layout before making a decision, they can politely request a different room number if needed once there.

A room on a higher floor is also less likely to have noise since it’s away from ground-floor lobbies and restaurants.

The Democrat party is the world’s largest criminal organization

The Democrat Party is nothing less— or more— than the largest criminal organization in the world.

Care to guess what happened to the $18-billion surplus Minnesota had just a couple of years ago? Or why the North Star State is now $6 billion in debt?

Or why California is a mind-blowing $1.08 trillion in the red if one includes unfunded pension liabilities?

Or why the U.S. has more than $38 trillion less than nothing?

Where did all the moolah go? To pay for certain special interest groups and the future votes of “undocumented immigrants.” And, of course, through graft, money-laundering, and kickbacks, much of it also ultimately ended up in the pockets of “Democratic” politicians. How do you think so many ended up with net worths in the tens of millions of dollars or more in a few short years whilst making $175,000 or so annually? It’s a good — if remarkably evil — gig if you can get it. And keep it.

The Democrat party feeds off the American taxpayer like a wolf gorging on a freshly killed carcass. It could not survive without graft of staggering proportions, with a hefty dose of cheating thrown in. It banks on Americans being too generous, too tolerant, or too ignorant to seriously push back -- all the while libeling and slandering the roughly 50% of Americans who dare to question or disagree with them. (“Racist, bigot, homophobe, misogynist, Islamophobe, fascist, Hitler!”)

Today’s Democrats are skilled at using Munchausen Syndrome by proxy, now called Factitious Disorder Imposed on Another (FDIA), in that they claim to be helping the allegedly ill, downtrodden, or “marginalized” even as they fabricate— or even deliberately cause — the very problems they profess to be solving.

But wait, there’s more: some Americans appear to be suffering from a form of Stockholm Syndrome, in that Democrats have essentially taken many Americans hostage, via welfare and social programs, one-party rule, or other tactics … and yet a significant percentage of Americans somehow sympathize with them. And vote for them.

Democrat supporters will try to rationalize anything, especially the irrational.

To Walz, attempts by ICE to remove illegal alien criminals off the streets of Minnesota, including rapists and murderers and those who fled their own country to escape justice for committing these heinous crimes, constitute an “attack on Minnesota” and are “endangering” Minnesotans.

It is not possible to utter something further from the truth than that. Walz’s statement is the exact opposite of the truth. ICE is removing criminal aliens to make Minnesota — and Minnesotans — safer and less corrupt. And to prevent future crime, corruption, and fraud — including rampant election fraud.

Fraud, crime, theft, corruption, hypocrisy, gaslighting, projection, power. These are just a few of Democrats’ favorite things. They use them like they use American citizens and illegal aliens. Indiscriminately and in the service of their own power.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. Please share this article.

Vos says falling population is Wisconsin's biggest challenge

The year 2026 is guaranteed to bring significant political change in Wisconsin. Voters will elect a new governor, Democrats believe they have a great chance at legislative power for the first time since 2010 and the state's most powerful lawmaker might not return to the Capitol.

In a wide-ranging interview Assembly Speaker Robin Vos (R-Rochester) said he hasn't decided whether he'll seek re-election. Vos is the longest-serving speaker in Wisconsin history, having held that post since 2013.

As Wisconsin moves into the back half of the 2020s, Vos said he believes the biggest problem facing the state is its demographics. The Department of Administration (DOA) estimates Wisconsin's population will begin to fall by the 2030 U.S. Census. By 2050, the state population is projected to fall by nearly 200,000 people, going from 5.89 million to 5.71 million.

Vos says any solution must either draw people to Wisconsin, keep them from moving away or encourage families to have more kids. To do that, Vos highlight what he considers the five types of affordability: The cost of government, housing, food, healthcare and utilities.

Vos highlighted measures in the current state budget that exempts utilities from the sales tax and a provision raising the tax Wisconsin charges its hospitals; 30% of the hospital revenue would go toward BadgerCare, the state's version of Medicaid for low-income people.

Vos also said the Assembly will also vote on a measure creating incentives for school districts that merge, reducing the number of staff and building to align with falling birth rates.

"If we have fewer kids in schools, you have to figure out a way to do it in a smarter way," Vos said. "You can't just have the same number of people doing the same number of things with fewer kids in the classroom. It just doesn't work."

Vos said Republicans will also take up a bill that exempts tips and overtime hours from the state income tax.

"I want people to work overtime," Vos said. "I want people to earn extra so they can save for that starter home or put kids through college."

A scam offering a free piano is targeting Wisconsin churches

The Better Business Bureau is warning consumers about a new scam targeting churches across Wisconsin.

For months, churches have received the same message from multiple women stating that they are looking to give away their late husband's Yamaha Baby Grand piano to someone who will truly appreciate and care for it.

Recipients of the email were asked to pay fees for a moving company, shipping, insurance and piano tuning through untraceable online payments, including Zelle and bank transfer. When they asked the individual donating the piano to speak by phone, their requests were declined, and the individual stated they preferred to speak through email.

On average, such pianos can cost between $9,000 and $30,000 at resale and retail prices.

The moving company associated with the scam is called Moving with GoDrop. In messages to interested churches, the company states that it processes first-time transactions through non-traceable online payment services, because it is "the most straightforward way" to process new transactions. They told one church that they serve other clients through other channels.

The shipping fees offered by the suspected scammer range from $600 to $1,200.

"BBB believes that this is the advance-fee scam; you pay in advance for something promised, but it never materializes," said Lisa Schiller, senior director of investigations and media relations at the Better Business Bureau.

The BBB encourages recipients of this scam email to delete the message and avoid communicating with the sender or clicking on links.

As of Jan. 5, no churches targeted by the scam have reported lost funds as a consequence of the scheme.

Several churches in Brookfield, South Milwaukee, Waunakee and Waupaca replied to the sender's request for additional information.

Man gets probation after being charged with stalking Wisconsin chief justice

A Racine man has been sentenced to probation after threatening the chief justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

Ryan Thornton, 37, entered a plea deal after appearing in Dane County Circuit Court Monday.

He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charges of intimidating a victim and disorderly conduct. The court agreed to dismiss a felony charge of stalking that had been filed against him.

Thornton had been in the Dane County Jail since October, after he repeatedly emailed Chief Justice Jill Karofsky, telling her to “eject” herself from office and asking for her home address. Thornton also called Wisconsin’s Office of Lawyer Regulation more than 70 times to complain about Karofsky and make threats against staff there, according to prosecutors.

This week, Judge Ann Peacock sentenced Thornton to two years of probation. For at least the first 30 days of that time, Thornton will be required to wear a GPS monitor.

Thornton will also be banned from going to Dane County, where Karofsky is based, unless he gets prior approval.

A YouTuber's Follow-Up Video on Minnesota Fraud Is Just as Wild

Nick Shirley did some victory laps this week. He took down Tim Walz. The Minnesota Democrat announced he was withdrawing from his bid to secure a third term. It all happened after the YouTuber posted a viral video that exposed a sprawling system of fraud in Minneapolis.

It focused on Somali daycares that receive millions in funding but have no children on-site. The video led to the deployment of 2,000 federal agents to investigate fraud, Health and Human Services cutting off all child care payments until the matter was resolved, the US Department of Labor reviewing unemployment benefits, and the possible end of Walz’s political career.

Now, in his follow-up video, a man identified as David Hoch, who co-founded Minnesotans for Responsible Government, which the liberal press will likely attack, discusses how this fraud scheme could soar into the hundreds of billions. He estimates it’s at least $80 billion since it’s layer upon layer of shell companies. Hoch accompanied Shirley in the first post on the subject. He also noted that the city has about 1,200 medical transport companies, yet they haven’t done anything. The vehicles are sitting idle in lots, but they’re getting paid to transport patients.

“I have been to many of these transportation companies, and I've been time-stamping my photographs for a whole year at one facility in Minneapolis, and those vans in that parking lot had not moved one inch in an entire year. They're all still sitting there,” he said.

Trump: Venezuela to Turn over 30-50 Million Barrels of Oil to U.S.

President Donald Trump announced that the “interim authorities” in charge of Venezuela would be giving between 30 and 50 million “Barrels of High Quality, Sanctioned Oil” to the United States.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump explained that the oil would “be sold at its Market Price,” and that Trump would ensure the money from the sales would be “used to benefit the people of Venezuela” and the U.S.

“I am pleased to announce that the Interim Authorities in Venezuela will be turning over between 30 and 50 MILLION Barrels of High Quality, Sanctioned Oil, to the United States of America,” Trump said. “This Oil will be sold at its Market Price, and that money will be controlled by me, as President of the United States of America, to ensure it is used to benefit the people of Venezuela and the United States!”

“I have asked Energy Secretary Chris Wright to execute this plan, immediately,” Trump added. “It will be taken by storage ships, and brought directly to unloading docks in the United States.”

Trump tells Republicans: ‘You gotta win the midterms’ or ‘I’ll get impeached’

President Donald Trump insisted Tuesday that Republicans have “so many good nuggets” to campaign on this year as they try to hold onto their razor-thin margin in the House.

Trump’s appearance at the GOP’s policy forum was meant to ensure House Republicans and the White House were aligned on their agenda ahead of the November midterms that will determine control of Congress and the course of Trump’s final two years in office. Trump warned that if Democrats regain control of Congress, “they’ll find a way to impeach me.”

It all points to a difficult year ahead for the president and his party, especially as the House’s slim majority narrowed Tuesday with the sudden death of California Rep. Doug LaMalfa, and the resignation of former Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene.

People with anxious tendencies are more likely to support left-wing economic policy

New research provides insight into the psychological underpinnings of political ideology. The findings suggest that individuals who are prone to anxiety are more likely to support left-wing economic policies, particularly when they feel socially excluded. This tendency appears to stem from a deep-seated human need for community support during times of vulnerability. The study was published in the British Journal of Political Science.

Political scientists and psychologists have long sought to understand the relationship between personality traits and political beliefs. A common perspective in the field has historically suggested that right-wing beliefs serve as a coping mechanism for fearful or anxious people.

However, recent data has complicated this picture. Surveys frequently show that people who identify as liberals or support left-wing parties report higher levels of distress and negative emotions than their conservative counterparts.

“Our strongest finding is that being a generally anxious person is related to being economically left-wing in both the United States and the Netherlands,” study author Adam R. Panish, a PhD candidate at Stony Brook University, told PsyPost. “This relationship isn’t explained by people’s income, education, health insurance enrollment, homeownership, or employment status. It also isn’t explained by demographic characteristics like gender, race, or age.”

Michael Reagan, the eldest son of President Ronald Reagan, dies at 80

Michael Reagan, the eldest son of President Ronald Reagan and a conservative commentator, has died. He was 80.

The Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute announced his death in a post on the social platform X on Tuesday, calling him “a steadfast guardian of his father’s legacy.”

“Michael Reagan lived a life shaped by conviction, purpose, and an abiding devotion to President Reagan’s ideals,” the foundation said.

His cause of death was not immediately announced.

“Michael was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 4th, surrounded by his entire family,” his wife, Colleen Reagan, and two children, Cameron Reagan and Ashley Reagan Dunster, wrote in a statement. “Our hearts are deeply broken as we grieve the loss of a man who meant so much to all who knew and loved him.”

Born to Irene Flaugher in 1945, Reagan was adopted just hours after his birth by Ronald Reagan and his then-wife, actor Jane Wyman.

After attending Arizona State University and Los Angeles Valley College, Reagan took up acting, playing in television shows including “Falcon Crest,” and he spent nearly two decades as a conservative radio talk show host, speaking of politics and culture.

Throughout his life, Reagan raised money and worked for charities, using powerboat racing as a means of fundraising for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Statue of Liberty Restoration Fund. Reagan sat on the advisory board for Mixed Roots Foundation, which focuses on the foster care and adoption in the U.S. and globally.

Reagan served as chair of the John Douglas French Alzheimer’s Foundation board for three years, working on the same disease his father succumbed to in 2004.

As president and chair of the Reagan Legacy Foundation, he championed the legacy of his father. The conservative former president was known for trying to scale back government and devoting his presidency to winning the Cold War.

The Anti-American Left

Ponder these examples of how extreme the Left has become.

• When President Trump went after the vicious gang Tren de Aragua for terrorizing the residents of Aurora, Colorado, Democrats lied and denied there was a problem.

• When federal immigration police arrested an illegal alien gang member involved in human trafficking, Democrats and the media turned him into a “Maryland man” and made him a hero of the open borders Left.

• When Trump went after a radical Islamist stoking antisemitism on the campus of Columbia University and terrorizing Jewish students, the Left rallied around Mahmoud Khalil and demanded he enjoy all the rights our Constitution has to offer.

• When Donald Trump bombed ISIS-affiliated terrorists who were killing Christians in Nigeria, the Left accused him of racism.

• When Donald Trump took out Iran’s terrorist mastermind, Democrats accused him of being reckless.

• When Trump moved to kick the communist Chinese out of the Panama Canal, Democrats accused him of imperialism.

• When Trump exposed corruption in the Somalian diaspora in Minnesota, Democrats rallied around the Somali scammers.
• When President Trump destroyed Iran’s nuclear weapons program, Democrats accused him of warmongering.

• When Trump removed a corrupt Marxist dictator who was working directly with drug cartels to poison American citizens, Democrats defended the dictator and accused Trump of committing impeachable offenses.

Time and time again, Democrats rally around our enemies, foreign and domestic, that are trying to bring America down. Not long ago, the two parties agreed that corruption, antisemitism, gangs, human trafficking, and terrorism were all bad. The GOP hasn’t changed. It still opposes those things.

The only thing that has changed is the Democrat Party, which has been hijacked by radical, anti-American leftists. The scary thing is that at least 47% of the American people are still willing to vote for them.

I’ve been involved in various forms of the news business from May/1978 to the present.

That’s a long time, and I could be wrong but I can’t recall in Wisconsin a case where a school district sued its city. But it happened in 2025 in Franklin.

Such a development is absolutely crazy. But certainly plausible in a city as dysfunctional as Franklin. The blind suing the blind. Like watching the Bears playing the Vikings.

The story continues into 2026.

Here are the details.
