Wanted to share my homemade pizza dough. Unsure who I owe credit to for the recipe as its used so much now I have it memorized. Very easy to follow for beginners. A few simple ingredients, using no pizza stone or brick oven. The best home made pizza dough Ive had yet.
2 C Flour
1 C Warm Water
1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
1 Tablespoon Yeast
1 Tablespoon Sugar
1 Teaspoon Salt
+ more Flour for kneading and rolling
Step 1. Mix water, Sugar and yeast. set to the side for 10 mins. If does not get bubbly and foamy the yeast used is probably no longer good.
Step 2. Add Flour, Olive oil, Salt. Mix. Dough will be very wet and sticky. Turn it out onto a floured surface for kneading. Get as much dough out of bowl and save bowl for later.
Step 3. Cover with a little more Flour and knead for at least 10 mins. The dough will stick to your hands at first. Add flour as needed. I scrape off what sticks to my hands as I go and add more flour. Im no expert but I like a consistency that isn't constantly sticking. I have to continously add flour to my ball and surface. Dough ball should bounce back when poked thats when you know you've kneaded enough.
Step 4. Lightly oil the bowl used earlier and Add dough ball back to bowl. Cover. Let rest for 2+ hours or over night. The longer the rest the better the dough. I have used this recipe in a pinch tho when my kitchen is warmer in about an hours time. This current rise was about 7 hours.
Step 5. Take dough out of bowl and turn onto lightly floured surface. Pre shape your dough before rolling into the shape wanted. This makes 2 medium sized round pizzas or one nice think rectangle like my family likes. Throw flour on your roller, roll out dough. Transfer to lightly greased pan(s).
Step 6. Sauce, Season, Cheese and Top your pizza. Tonight we used leftover spaghetti sauce and bacon bits I had in the fridge. Season how you like it, I like to put my seasoning on after my sauce and my go tos are always garlic powder, onion powder, basil, oregano, Salt and pepper. Dont be afraid to sprinkle that crust too! Or mix seasoning straight into the dough! We shred our Mozzarella blocks ourself, it doesnt have to be "fresh" Mozz, the kind packaged in the harder blocks works just fine but shredding your own melts SO much better! Top with favorite toppings. We love green peppers, fresh sliced tomatoes, onions and spinach when we have the fresh produce! Plain ol cheese is always a winner too!
Step 7. Bake in Oven at 450Β° F for 10 mins. Transfer to cooling rack once done for at least 3-4.
Comment what's your favorite pizza! π
