The NWS has issued a **FLASH FLOOD WARNING** for Franklin & Southampton County until 5:30 pm. Heavy rain from ongoing slow moving thunderstorms will produce areas of flash flooding. If you encounter a flooded roadway, “Turn around, don’t drown”. Find another way to your destination.

Another round of scattered showers and thunderstorms is anticipated this afternoon and evening. Once again, these storms may produce torrential rain, potentially leading to instances of flash flooding. Areas that received the most significant rainfall over the past week are at the highest risk for flash flooding. A *Flood Watch* is in effect for areas north of the VA/NC border from 12pm today to 12am tonight. If you encounter a flooded roadway of unknown depth, please exercise caution and “turn around, don’t drown”. Remain alert for possible warnings this afternoon and evening.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible from early afternoon through the evening today, potentially producing heavy rain that may lead to isolated instances of flooding. A *Flood Watch* is in effect until 2am on Friday morning for Franklin and Southampton County. While widespread flash flooding is not anticipated, some areas may experience flooding under the most intense storms. The probability of storms is 60%, with a 30% chance of minor flooding and a 5% chance of significant flooding.

Showers & thunderstorms are possible between 8pm-2am tonight. These storms could produce torrential rain leading to minor flooding. While heavy rain is the main threat, there is also a marginal risk for damaging winds up to 60 mph with these storms. Chance of storms is 60%. Chance of flooding is 30%. Chance of damaging winds is 10%.
