Last night's lunar eclipse at 4:40 a.m., Pittsburgh. Photo by JP Diroll.
In a stunning unfolding of completely and historically predictable events, the lunar eclipse was not visible during it's peak dahn tahn.
Of course, true as this may be, it's a bit tongue in cheek. The eclipse was to be best viewed right after 4AM. Mother Nature: Pittsburgh Chapter said..."no, no, no...not today!"
When I looked out my door at 2:26 in Mars, it was so clear I swear I could see all the way to the planet Mars. The moon was just starting to show the Earth's shadow. This was gonna be great.
Fast forward to 3:45 in the city and the moon was gone. P**f. But it wasn't all for naught. Around 4:40 the moon came out to play again. Time to frame it up on the Gulf Building.
The cloud cover was much thinner and proved itself welcome for two reasons:
1 - it provided even more mood.
2 - it actually dimmed the glow of the moon allowing for this to be caught in a single exposure.
I'll have a couple more to share but hope you enjoy this early one for now!
