After two years, 112 miles, and countless memories, the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy completes its section hike of the Bartram Trail. From Beechertown to Cheoah Bald, hikers share not only the challenges and beauty of the trail, but also the friendships, knowledge, and inspiration found along the way.

This final episode brings together voices from across the journey—hikers, naturalists, and community members—reflecting on what it means to walk in the footsteps of William Bartram, America’s first naturalist.

Join the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy and Backlot Cinema on our fourteenth section of the 110-mile Bartram Trail.

This month, we journey deeper into the forest to reflect on William Bartram—not just as a naturalist, but as an artist who saw the world as "inexpressibly beautiful and pleasing." His detailed, imaginative illustrations captured the interconnectedness of life in ways that were ahead of his time—evoking wonder, reverence, and curiosity.

Through the collaborative project "Listening to the Land: Reimagining the Bartram Trail", the Blue Ridge Bartram Trail Conservancy and Kinship Photography Collective invited photographers of all levels to connect with the natural world the way Bartram once did—with humility, awe, and deep observation.

Over nine months of workshops, nature walks, and creative exploration, participants learned to “listen” to the land—not just see it. The camera became a tool for intimate conversations with the environment, uncovering beauty and meaning in overlooked places.
