Have you ever had someone say to you or you have said yourself: “I’m just waiting for someone to clear the path for me” ☺️ I know I have from time to time.

This morning, I am reminded that I have a God that has already done just that! The parting of the Red Sea depended on and coincided with the children of Israel’s willingness to move forward. The way wasn’t opened to them until they took the first step.

When we are in situations that feel like the point of no return, we must remember that we are not alone. God is there with us. His Word is all we need to see us through. Then it is a “walk of faith” Your steps are ordered of the Lord (Psalm 37:23)

Let’s trust Him today and keep on walking “through” where God is trying to get you to! Trusting Him with you today!

“The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” (Exodus 33:14)

I recently came across the title of a book: Win the Invisible War Against You! As I thought about it, I remembered the message I heard yesterday on Ephesians 6:10–18. A question rose in my spirit: Why does the invisible war seem so visible and real?

The Word of God makes it clear—this is a spiritual battle. For a “spirit” to have rightful access in the earth, it must operate through an earthen vessel. Paul reminded the Corinthian church that their bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 6:19). The war feels visible and real because flesh and blood are often used to host a spirit. Yet Paul told the church at Ephesus, we are not wrestling against flesh and blood!

That brings me to a personal question: What am I allowing to fill my atmosphere? In Ephesians 5, Paul teaches that our speech reflects how filled we are with the Holy Spirit:

“…be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Eph. 5:18b–20)

What are you saying about 🗣️someone, or to that someone?

Lord give us grace to speak love and life!!

Over the years I’ve often told students (even at seminary) “Words have meaning, and there is meaning in words…and, sometimes, our words can be “mean” 😠 🗣️ if you know what I mean. Here “mean” is used to convey an idea 🤷🏽‍♀️ or signify something; or “mean” can carries the connotation of being unkind, spiteful or unfair. “He was mean” 😠.

Our personal beliefs and ideologies act as a wellspring, feeding our vocabulary and shaping our conversations. You may say I’m just keeping it real or keeping it. 💯 but… it has been said “Perception is reality to the one who perceives it”

If our thoughts shape our words, we must ask ourselves…

Who are you listening to? What are you repeating?

“See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. (Col 2:8)

Today take time to pray and ask the Lord to continue transform your ideology into His kingdom mindset (Roman’s 12:1,2)

Over the years, I have witnessed in several settings the enormous damage of words!
Individuals who are more concerned about being right than being reconciled often speak their own toxic rhetoric. Others wait in silence while their minds are planning what to say to defend our cause!

Brothers and sisters that is not a Kingdom way. The verse that struck me this morning comes from the book of Ecclesiastes,

"Even in your thoughts, do not curse the king, nor in your bedroom curse the rich, for a bird of the air will carry your voice, or some winged creature tell the matter." Ecclesiastes 10:20

Did your mama or someone tell you back in the day: "A little bird told me what happened"?

Our words are like seeds carried from our "thoughts" often to our mouth 👄 and the wind of "a spirit" Holy or others will carry them to land in designated soil. These words will land and take root and produce fruit unfortunately at times they yield unproductive fruit!

It is a brand new day! New mercies are here once again!!!Thank You Jesus! We can come to the throne room of GRACE to “find” mercy and grace to help in time of need!

Yesterday, I needed to hear a word from The Lord before I “care-fronted” a colleague. That’s right I said “care-front” not confront. I am still learning to do this graciously.

Care-fronting demonstrates handling people and strife, with the nature of the Kingdom of God.
When I am frustrated and angry I need to walk in peace and patience. This does not happen naturally that’s why I’m grateful for The throne room of grace!
God embraces me with mercy when I’m a mess. When
I am at a loss about what to do, He can be found! 🙌🏾 The Holy Spirit was found in God’s presence and gave me the words to graciously “care-front.”

Authentically Seeking Him…

On the 9th day, God said to mankind, "Be fruitful and multiply!"

Before God created humans, he made seed-bearing fruit. The seed within the fruit 🍎 had God given potency with the potential to reproduce exponentially.

When encouraging teachers, or classes I taught at seminary I would remind them ..."You can count the number of seeds in an apple 🍏 but you can never count the number of apples in a seed...keep on sowing seed.

The seed of Christ was implanted in our hearts ♥️ the day we said yes to Jesus! As we walk🚶🏾‍♀️ out our daily lives, we must remember, we have the potential to sow seed. Love, joy, peace patience and kindness..are just a few. 😉 Fruit listed in scripture starts with LOVE ❤️ it is our root system!

Choose today to be productive! You have the potential!
I choose JOY and PEACE.

FYI...POTENTIAL has 9 letters!
Just sayin. ☺️

Do you remember when we had to get dressed and ready and make that “walk” 🚶🏾‍♀️to the bus 🚌 stop? Some of us were even school patrol. We had a badge and everything.

The “school patrol” meant that the student wearing the uniform gave directions and helped everyone to get on the bus orderly. “In my opinion…a lot of pressure for a student!” 😳😳☺️☺️But…

We have been given a Helper to walk us not only to the bus stop, but who will teach us what we don’t know and lead us in an orderly Kingdom way. Jesus, told His disciples that when He ascended back to Glory, He would ask The Father to send us the same Helper He had while on earth. Jesus said:

“These things I have spoken to you while I am still with you. But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you.”

The Father sent Him and all we have to do is ask for His assistance. Pray and ask God to: lead, guide and direct you”

I am following the Leader today! Will you?

“Teach me to do your will, for you are my God! May your good Spirit lead me on level ground!” Psalm 143:10

We have made it through the first week of September. I am grateful for the many ways I witnessed the grace of God manifest.

Sunday, we took Mother to dinner and enjoyed fellowship with a friend. Monday she was preparing for Tuesday’s surgery and as you heard, The Lord Jehovah Rapha was manifest during the surgical procedure and we continue to trust Him in the recovery ❤️‍🩹

I needed a double portion of grace at work. As long as we are on earth we will interact with people. Remember every person has their own perception of life, and you. 😳. Continue to go to the God’s throne room where He will grant you the grace needed to handle life’s situations with patience, poise and power.

“Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them.” Psalm 119:165

But You, Lord, are a shield around me, My glory, and the One who lifts my head.
Psalm 3:3

As you know I like to wake up with a song in my mind and in my spirit!🎶🎵 this morning was no different. I kept hearing the lyrics ..."You don't have to wait until the battle is over you can shout now!" The title to the song is Never Lost!

I am so glad that I serve a king who sits on a throne because the battle is already won. When a job is done we take a seat! The Psalmist wrote: “Lift up the gates and everlasting doors that the King 👑 of Glory may come in! Who is this King of glory? The Lord mighty in battle!” (Psalm 24:7-8)

As children of God and citizens of His kingdom we rejoice in God's victorious battle! The book tells us God has gone ahead of us as a shield 🛡! And a the song writer says 🎶 says... “He never lost a battle and He never will!

No need to fear! Trust the One who covers you and fights for you! Spiritual resistance requires Spiritual assistance!

Trusting, ❤️ Doc

The word of God tells us that God gives strength to the weary to him who lacks it; he increases his power! I am grateful that God knows who we are and how we are intricately designed. Mother came through surgery like a champ yesterday. Last night was a little rough today; she needs her hemoglobin to come up, so again, we stand on the promises of God. Leviticus tells us, "The life of the flesh is in the blood 🩸 "

May the Lord infuse her with the breath of life that only He can give through the blood that the doctors transfuse in Jesus Name! The doctor does the work, but God is the healer.

Stand with me today, as we hold to God's word may the God of peace himself set you apart, spirit, soul, and body. 1 Thess. 5:23

"He sent out his word and healed them." Psalm 107:20

Grateful 🙏🏾 Doc

“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.” (Psalm 29:11)

This verse here!!! It spoke to me in such a powerful way this morning.

He speaks a ‘word’ to dangerous winds and waves and tells them to ‘hush and be still’. He tells us to ‘come to Him’ when we cannot carry the load before us! Once the load is lifted, we have the strength and ability to walk in “peace”.

The first 9 verses of Psalm 29 testify to the power of God’s voice.
“The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic.”(Ps 29:4)

I’m learning to speak God’s word into difficult situations (usually on my knees in prayer ), trusting His majestic power to change the atmosphere!

Let’s speak God’s truth to the broken places of our souls and watch him give us strength and the ability to walk in peace.

Trusting His Truth!

As a young girl, I was involved in “Campfire Girls” 😳 My mother put me there hoping to keep me busy and make some kind of connection with other girls from our “community”. We had not long before moved from the projects in Boston, now to a suburb of a majority culture that did not look like me.

The words opening this devotion were learned as a campfire girl. We sang it every time we were together. Back then, it was just words… and many saying it while pushing each other and rolling our eyes…But there was power in those words that God would begin in me..

Let there be peace on earth
And let it begin with me;
Let there be peace on earth,
The peace that was meant to be.
With God as our Father,
Brothers all are we,
Let me walk with my brother
In perfect harmony
Let peace begin with me,
Let this be the moment now.

Let this be my solemn vow:
To take each moment and live each moment
In peace eternally
Let there be peace on earth
My heart goes out to the Minneapolis families who lost loved ones once again to senseless gun violence.
