Are you ahead or behind for your age?

Here is the thing: these comparisons aren't all that helpful for your financial plan.

Your net worth does not show the full picture. We have clients above these averages, near these averages, and even clients who have built real wealth through paths that look nothing like what these numbers suggest.

When it comes to building wealth, focus on what you can control: your consistency, your savings rate, and your long-term discipline. You do not control anyone else's number - just your own.

Also worth noting: this data comes from Empower Personal Dashboard users as of February 2026. There is already a selection bias baked in, so these figures should not be extrapolated to represent the average American.

And yet, even with that bias, the takeaway is clear. There is still significant room for improvement when it comes to building wealth.

The good news? You are already here, which means you are already doing something about it.
