The Washington Parish Council met on Monday, November 3. The Council usually meets on the second and fourth Monday of the month but moved the meetings up one week due to the Thanksgiving holiday.

This past February, Franklinton Primary School Principal Kayla Sabel wrote and was awarded a grant for a Little Free Library for the school. It has now been installed and stocked. Franklinton Primary was one of only 200 schools chosen out of more than 800 applications to receive the little library which is a book-sharing box in celebration of the 200,000th Little Free Library worldwide.

The Franklinton Demons defeated their final regular season opponent, the Hannan Hawks, 41-17 last Friday on homecoming night.

The Bowling Green Buccaneers' 2025 football season came to an end with a hard-fought defeat. Traveling from Franklinton all the way to Rossville, Tennessee, the Buccaneers fell in the MAIS Class 3A Division II quarterfinals to the Rossville Academy Wolves, 49-7.

In my journey with The Master Gardener program, I learned many things that helped me develop my skills at gardening. I found some shortcuts, some new techniques and some new crops that have become game changers. One such plant I stumbled across was the Red Roselle Hibiscus. Red Roselle can be easily harvested, and seeds can be easily plucked out and saved for the following year.
