Waiting for Lester Records is a Frederick, MD based record label specializing in Americana, bluegrass, and country music. Owned and operated by Jason Hannan.
Waiting for Lester Records was founded out of a desire to create opportunities and avenues for recording and radio airplay for local and regional artists in the Washington, DC area and beyond. Our mission is to create a collaborative environment for up and coming singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists. Waiting for Lester Records features an in-house studio, audio production, and graphic design

I kind of want to talk a little about each of the tracks on my bluegrass album because well, I'm just a chatty dude. The first tune on the album is Lightning Bar Blues, a Hoyt Axton song I remember from when I was a kid. I've heard it done by a few different people at bluegrass jams over the years and I always figured once I did a bluegrass album it would be on the list.
The thinking for the track was something along the lines of Doyle Lawson's Blue Train. So we double-timed the beat and brought Rob Benzing in to kick it off on banjo. Michelle Hannan sings both the harmony vocals and Howard Parker plays some awesome dobro. I think it works well to start the album and am happy with how it turned out!

Waiting for Lester Records is proud to release a new single from Howard Parker's Music Page album, Music Daddy - a Sideman and Friends. This single is entitled "Last Train" written by Peter Rowan, and it is firmly in the bluegrass camp. In addition to Howard's signature dobro work, Last Train features Dave Bitler of The Shade Tree Collective on lead vocals. The rest of the band is Dan Fitzgerald on banjo, Dan Vanada on mandolin, Bianca Bentz on bass, and Jason Hannan - Musician on guitar. We hope you'll give this great song a listen!

Hey folks! New single out today for Jason Hannan - Musician! This is the 3rd and final single from his upcoming bluegrass album, which will be released in April. This song features Howard Parker on dobro and baritone harmonies. Michelle Hannan sings the tenor harmony and Rob Benzing plays some terrific banjo as always. Out There in the Dark, a country music album featuring original tunes from Michelle, Jason, and Howard, this album dives deep into an exploration of the dark side of life. Here's the track listing:
1. They Call It a Shot (written by Jason Hannan)
A traditional country shuffle, featuring twangy pedal steel and telecaster.
2. Wastelands (written by Jason Hannan, Michelle Hannan)
A moody bluegrass flavored tune featuring Shannon Bielski of Shannon Bielski and Moonlight Drive on fiddle.
3. The Room That Once Was Heaven for Me (written by Keith Whitley)
A traditional country weeper. This song was originally a commercially unreleased Keith Whitley demo.
4. Out There in the Dark (written by Jason Hannan, Michelle Hannan)
The centerpiece of the album. A 90's country flavored original that sets the album's theme.
5. Just Getting a Beer (written by Jason Hannan, Robert Meeks Jr)
A honky-tonk novelty tune with a sense of humor. Originally conceieved at the Blue Side after jam by Bob Meeks. This one features Shannon on fiddle too.
6. Wait a Minute (written by Herb Pedersen)
A Herb Pedersen classic featuring harmonies inspired by bluegrass supergroup The Seldom Scene.
7. Borrowed Angel (written by Mel Street)
Pedal steel guitarist Howard Parker's first turn as a lead vocalist in his long musical career!
8. Beneath Still Waters (written by Dallas Frazier)
A stone cold country classic featuring Michelle, Jason, and Howard's soaring vocal harmonies.
9. Long Lonesome Train (written by Jason Hannan)
A bluegrassy original featuring Rob Benzing's driving banjo and backing vocals by Waiting for Lester Records recording artist Matthew Geiger.
10. You’re Killing Me (written by Michelle Hannan)
A traditional country barroom weeper written by Michelle. Featuring some strong pedal steel work. This was the first song Michelle wrote solo back in about 2016!
11. The Stone (written by Jason Hannan)
An old school country ballad with a big twist built in. Featuring lots of crying pedal steel and vocal harmony.

Hey folks, today is the day! We just released the 2nd single from Michelle Hannan & One Blue Night's upcoming album. The single is called "Just Getting a Beer" and it features Jason Hannan - Musician on lead vocals. This song was written by Jason Hannan and Robert Meeks Jr and it's got Howard Parker on pedal steel plus the wonderful Shannon Bielski on fiddle! "Just Getting a Beer was premiered back on Tuesday by Americana Highways. Melissa Clarke of Americana Highways had this to say:
"This is an old fashioned country song wrapped around a healthy dose of humor. The fiddle is fantastic, and the whole performance makes you feel like you’re right there at the show."

Matthew Geiger - Can't You Hear Me Calling
Waiting for Lester Records is excited to announce that we're recording and producing a full length album for Matthew Geiger! Matt is a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based near Frederick, MD and appeared previously on two albums with ClearSpring, a bluegrass band he fronted for a number of years. This album will be a combination of bluegrass and singer/songwriter material. Matthew has a high energy, soulful style that's really just hard to beat no matter what he's singing.
