Waiting for Lester Records was founded out of a desire to create opportunities and avenues for recording and radio airplay for local and regional artists in the Washington, DC area and beyond. Our mission is to create a collaborative environment for up and coming singers, songwriters, and instrumentalists. Waiting for Lester Records is proud to announce the release of "High and Lonesome", a new single from Nate Clendenen and the Clendenen Brothers! This song was written by Nate and is a terrific play on words! Here's what Nate has to say:

"This tune started as a somewhat tongue in cheek take on the traditional bluegrass aesthetic of the "High Lonesome Sound." I set out to write a traditionally-minded bluegrass song, but with my own particular version of high and lonesome. Based on what was going on at the time, I was certainly lonesome. But with my baritone voice… I had to go for a different kind of “high.” Yes, it’s what you’re thinking. A humorous double entendre to lighten up yet another age-old story of love gained and lost to a life on the road. What stumbled out of my mind and fingertips… was “High and Lonesome!”

I'm singing with Casey Haberman, Michelle Hannan, Howard Parker, Andrew Tontala, Dominica Knapp, Tom Jarboe, Daniel Hannan, Domenic Cicala, Gary Palmer, and Dave Bitler. And that's just volume 1! Hey folks! We're gonna start spotlighting some of the past albums we've released on the label over the years. Here's a good one to start with: Cheater's Waltz (2021) by Michelle Hannan, Jason Hannan, and Howard Parker.

Cheater's Waltz was a concept album that featured original songs by Michelle, Jason, & Howard, and tells the story of a woman who finds love, is betrayed, and commits an unspeakable crime. The story winds through a combination of songs designed or selected to tell a story; or to stand on their own as individual tracks.

The album found critical acclaim and received quite a bit of radio airplay in the independent country world...and even some from mainstream country stations. Michelle and Jason are very proud of this album and still consider it their signature release. Click the link to find it on your streaming platform of choice!

Hey, Wild Aster wants you to quit your day job!! Wanna know why? Listen to their new single! No seriously, Wild Aster has a new song out, their first cover AND Michael J. Stone's debut as a lead vocalist! It's a cover of John Hartford's "In Tall Buildings".

This song delves into the perils of working your life away and seeing everything else pass you by and man, does Michael deliver on a heartfelt vocal. He also plays guitar and mandolin and is ably supported by Casey Haberman on dobro and Dominica Knapp on banjo. Jason Hannan plays bass and produced this one. We hope you'll enjoy and give it a share!
