During a collapse or SHTF situation, your best chance of survival is stay and bunker down where you are. You know the area where you live best.. streams, rivers, shops, where supplies will come in, crossroads to setup defenses. Bugging out is the last possible report and will leave you at a disadvantage.

If you choose to stay put during an emergency, how do you help mitigate any issues with your neighbors if the power was out or the supply chain was down for an extended period of time? Kepp in mind they haven't prepared as well as you have for a situation like this. Your neighbors could be hungry, and you run the risk of them attacking you for their supplies.

One simple solution I've come up with to combat this is getting a surplus supply of beans and rice that I could give out to neighbors that were hungry. It's cheap, filling, and will keep them calm.

A lot of new HAM operators ace the licensing test... but then what? It will continually dumbfound me that the lack of knowledge that new Ham Radio users have about how to actually be able to pick up a radio and use it.

Memorizing the answers for the test isn't the same is self-seeking information on how to actually use your radio.

Shouldn't we be gearing the test so that folks actually know how to use their radio after getting their license?

Is the current ham radio license study material really useful? Here's my biggest problem with it... the current ham radio test is all around how Ham Radio works instead of how to actually use your radio.
