What if one ordinary life could tell the story of two nations and more than fifty years of history?

From growing up in China during the Cultural Revolution to eventually building a life in America, this is a story about change, risk, success, failure, family, and the people who shape us along the way.

And perhaps the biggest lesson of all:

The greatest wealth isn’t money.

It’s gratitude, purpose, and the people you share life with.

This is where the story begins.

Today is a reminder that freedom always comes at a cost.

On Memorial Day, I’m taking a moment to honor and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is something we never take for granted.

Forever grateful for their service.

We changed laws.
We changed rights.
And yes—we changed language too.

Because every step forward in history
started with someone saying:

“Maybe people deserve a little more dignity.”

It looks like just a paddle.
Just a game. Just another rally.

But every swing carried something more—
distance, memory… and you.

Some things don’t stay with us physically.
But somehow, they never really leave.

Not for blame.
Not for anger.
But for memory.

Because history isn’t just something we study—
it’s something we carry.

Peace is not free.
And forgetting has a cost.

Stepping back in time at the Temple of Edfu with my beautiful wife.

This is the most perfectly preserved temple in all of Egypt! It stayed so pristine because it was buried under nearly 40 feet (12 meters) of desert sand and Nile silt for centuries. It wasn't fully excavated until 1860.
