After 26 incredible years, it’s time to say thank you and see you later to a true legend. ❤️

At the end of 2025, WFRE’s longtime morning show host, Tom Whalen, will be retiring — a decision that’s well-deserved, but not an easy one for any of us who’ve been lucky enough to work with him or wake up with him every morning.

Since March 8, 1999, Tom hasn’t just been the voice of the morning show — he’s been the heart of WFRE. For more than 2 and a half decades, he’s connected with listeners, clients, and coworkers in a way that’s rare in this business. Dependable. Genuine. Kind. Funny. And always professional.

We are incredibly grateful for the chance to work alongside Tom since 2020. His dedication to radio, his love for this station, and his steady leadership through some of our most challenging years have meant more than words can properly express.

Tom’s final day in the studio will be Wednesday, December 31, 2025, and we’ll continue to hear his familiar voice on-air through Sunday, January 4, 2026, when he hosts his final ever episode of Sunday Rewind. It’s only right that his last sign-off happens doing what he’s always done best.

WFRE won’t sound quite the same without you in the morning, Tom — and that’s because you’ve made an impact that can’t be replaced. Thank you for the laughs, the leadership, the consistency, and the countless mornings you helped make a little brighter.

Enjoy this next chapter. You’ve earned every second of it. 💙🎙️
