As mom and I were working on all these mums today, finishing up the last bit of my orders, I looked up and realized my “why” and decided to share. The question has come up before…
Why do I put so much into my work? Why do I always try my hardest to make sure that EVERY mum is perfection? Why do I do this and push myself to all hours of the morning and night the entire homecoming season?
The answers are simple..the kids.
I put every ounce of passion and creativity into every single mum and garter because I want the person who receives it to feel as special as humanly possible. I want my art form to bring warmth and happiness to someone who may or may not be expecting the gift someone has ordered for them. I want to be able to look out under those Friday night lights and know that my tiny bit work in comparison to this big ol’ world made someone sparkle inside and out. There’s no better feeling than hearing “Mrs. Ashley!!! I love my mum!!!”
I love seeing these girls that I have known since they were little grow and become beautiful young women unknowingly experiencing the time of their lives in school, and I love how happy my heart gets when I hear how much someone has enjoyed my work being something that encompasses their personality and accomplishments.
The hardest part of it all is realizing how fast some of my “babies” are growing up, and how when I see them in their pretty band, dance or cheer uniforms that I still see those giggly little girls that were running around the dance studio driving each other crazy.
I also absolutely love getting to know the new clients that come to us for mums and garters, and the fact that I generally get to see those kiddos grow and watch their accomplishments become customizations on the next year’s mum or garter.
I just want to say thank you to each and every one of you for being a part of our little business, and a huge part of our lives. Your smiles and support mean the absolute world to us.
I hope that anyone who has gotten a mum or garter from us knows how special your project has been to us and we cannot wait to see what we get to create and celebrate with you next year!
