Went in for a little pre-surgery health assessment at and got a DEXA scan, VO2 Max test, and measured my resting metabolic rate. If you’re at all interested in these test, feel free to comment or DM me. What gets measured gets managed, people!

It’s wild to think that I went from thinking I’d never run again to planning to start jogging again before the end of the year. The real comeback starts now. Both hips have officially been resurfaced and I’ll be laser-focused on recovery for the next 12 months and beyond. I’ll be posting updates and recovery progress so follow along if you’re interested or share with someone who you think might be interested!

Going in for hip resurfacing #2 Wednesday so I only had this one morning of opportunity to get in the woods for spring gobbler season and we absolutely made the most of it. I always feel a sense of gratitude when I step in the woods. I’m very lucky to have the opportunities I’ve had in life and to be in the position that I’m in. I can freely step out of my parents’ back door after staying the night with them, walk into the woods with my father, sit down and enjoy the sounds of a Virginia forest waking up, hunt our resource and collect my own dinner, walk back home and enjoy a nice hot breakfast while while sharing the story of the hunt with everyone. There’s a part of me that feels guilty about how good I’ve got it. That’s where it’s on me to make sure I give back, and stand up for and help others that are less fortunate. But today, I’m just taking it all in and enjoying the outdoors with my family. I hope everyone reading this has a wonderful Sunday with their friends and families as well.
