Today we celebrated Mikenna's 9th birthday in true HitchedUp4Life fashion... with four brand new rear tires for PAWG and a 6-hour drive to beautiful Helena Montana. 🎂🚛

Not exactly what most 9-year-olds put on their birthday wish list, but around here adventures don't stop just because a tire decides it's had enough.

After losing an inner rear tire yesterday while leaving Washington, we decided PAWG deserved a full set of new shoes on the back end. Finding a tire shop open on a Sunday, however, turned into its own adventure. Apparently tire emergencies didn't get the memo that we're on a schedule. 😅

With nowhere open, we pulled into the parking lot for the night and regrouped. This morning started a little later than planned, but we rolled out with fresh rubber, a little more peace of mind, and another story for the road.

Tomorrow we're pointing PAWG toward , where we'll spend the next week digging into some old family history and seeing what stories we can uncover.

As always, thanks for riding along with The Fam. If you've been enjoying our journey, give this post a share, tell a friend about HitchedUp4Life, and if you'd like to help keep PAWG rolling, grab a shirt, hat, or sweatshirt from the Etsy store.

Stay Hitched Up! 🇺🇸

Tomorrow we point PAWG east and get back to doing what we set out to do...explore this incredible country one stop at a time.

These last three weeks back in Washington have been exactly what we needed.

We got to reconnect with our Ellensburg family, spend time with friends we hadn't seen in months, make the trip over to Snohomish to visit my folks, and enjoy the kind of hospitality that reminds you how blessed you really are. To everyone who opened their homes, shared a meal, stopped by camp, invited us over, or simply took time out of your busy lives to spend an evening with us...thank you. We love you all more than you know.

For the kids, these past few weeks have been even better. They've spent more nights with friends than they have at home, stayed up way too late, consumed alarming amounts of snacks, and made up for months of missed adventures in just a few short weeks. The laughter, stories, inside jokes, and memories made during this stop will stick with them for a long time.

One of the hardest parts of this lifestyle isn't finding a place to park. It's saying goodbye to the people who make those places feel like home.

Tomorrow the tires start turning again. South Dakota is calling, new adventures are waiting, and the next chapter of HitchedUp4Life is about to begin. But we'll leave Washington with full hearts, a camera full of memories, and a reminder that no matter how far we roam, we'll always have people here worth coming back to.

Stay hitched up, friends. We'll see you down the road.

Tomorrow we wrap up this leg of the adventure and point PAWG back toward Ellensburg for a couple weeks. The kids are missing their friends pretty hard, and honestly… so are we. Life on the road is incredible, but there’s something pretty special about reconnecting with your people for a bit before the wheels start turning again.

Then it’s back at it.

Next "BIG" stop: South Dakota to celebrate America’s 250th Independence Day at Mount Rushmore 🇺🇸

After that? Your guess is as good as ours. That’s kind of the beauty — and occasional panic attack — of this lifestyle 😅

We’ve covered a whole lot of ground these past few months. Mountains, deserts, breakdowns, wrong turns, unbelievable views, campground drama, diesel prices that should qualify as a felony… and somehow we’re still rolling. Still learning. Still roadschooling. Still figuring it out one stop at a time.

Now we’re entering the “good luck finding a campsite in summer” season, so if any of you know of great spots to park a rig for a few days between Ellensburg and South Dakota before July 1st, send them our way. Hidden gems, roadside stops, Harvest Hosts, little mom-and-pop campgrounds… we’re all ears.

And honestly, if you’ve got advice, ideas, or even constructive criticism, we’re open to that too. We’re building this thing as we go.

Appreciate every one of you for riding along with our crazy little traveling circus. Thanks for staying hitched up with us 🤘

Well… we officially escaped the People’s Republic of Campground Management 😅

And somehow ended up with a pretty great spot for the next couple nights at Hells Canyon Resort & Marina.

Front door view of the water, storm clouds rolling through the canyon, and everybody’s mood improved about 10 minutes after parking.

One of the guys here asked Barrett and Mikenna if they wanted pictures on his trike, which absolutely made their day. Then the battery died, so the kids helped him push it back to his site like a couple tiny roadside assistance workers 😅

Funny how the unplanned stops and random campground moments usually end up being the memorable ones.

Appreciate you all following along with our little rolling circus.

Crazy how fast a beautiful spot can go downhill.

We were there at Swiftwater RV Park less than 24 hours. Long enough to enjoy the views, settle in a little, and think we found a peaceful stop… then the unwritten “rules” started appearing out of nowhere.

Apparently using our little Weber charcoal grill to make dinner for the family was suddenly an issue… despite there being no posted rules about charcoal, campfires, cooking, or burn restrictions anywhere we could find. No signs. No paperwork. Nothing.

But don’t worry… we were generously offered the option to move our dangerous little “fire” over to the communal fire pit area because apparently some people don’t like smoke or might have asthma.

Now look… if there had been actual posted rules or fire restrictions, no problem whatsoever. We’d respect that immediately. But getting lectured halfway through making dinner over rules that don’t exist anywhere tends to leave a bit of a sour taste.

Which is unfortunate… because tonight’s menu was shaping up to be legendary. London broil and elk steaks over charcoal. And sadly, thanks to the Great Campground Coal Crisis of 2026, we’re sorry to report there will be no glorious end-product photos tonight 😅

And just to top things off, the camp host also brought over his massive Rottweiler that decided to test the limits of its leash right toward our daughter. Nothing happened thankfully, but watching your kid freeze while someone insists they “have control” of a dog built like a defensive tackle tends to change the vibe pretty quick.

That’s road life though. Some stops become favorites… others become stories you laugh about later while eating backup sandwiches.

Great spot for a lesson today.
River in the background, notebooks everywhere, coffee going on the Jetboil, and two kids getting their work done before we hit the road again.
Some days this lifestyle is chaos. Some days it’s long drives, broken plans, and trying to figure things out as we go. And some days it’s this.
Just a quiet morning with the family by the water.
Hard to complain about that.
We know a lot of you could scroll right past our little corner of the internet, so the fact that you keep checking in, commenting, sharing our posts, and riding along with us honestly means a lot. We’re just a normal family out here winging it one stop at a time, and it’s been pretty cool having so many of you along for the ride ❤️

Most folks would blink and miss Wisdom, Montana…and honestly, that’s part of the charm.

Tucked into the Big Hole Valley, this little ranch town has been around since the late 1800s when miners, cattlemen, and trappers carved out a life way out here where winters don’t mess around. Today, it’s still got that old Montana feel—wide open country, weathered barns, mountain views in every direction, and not much interest in hurrying for anybody.

We rolled PAWG through town soaking it all in for a slow drive video that feels a little more like stepping back in time than just passing through another dot on the map.

No traffic jams. No skyscrapers. Just small-town Montana doing its thing.

Thanks for riding along with us ❤️

We made it to Wisdom for a couple days with Tera’s dad and Grama Carol, and this stop has been a good reminder that not every memorable moment needs a big destination attached to it.

The kids wasted zero time jumping into full Montana mode and headed out gopher hunting with Grandpa. No pictures though—apparently that adventure was “kids only,” which probably means we’re better off not knowing the details anyway 😅

Meanwhile, Tera posted up outside with the laptop, soaked up some sunshine, and somehow managed to work while surrounded by mountains and wide open country. Not a bad office setup if you ask me.

Tomorrow we point PAWG west and roll through into for a few more nights of whatever adventure decides to find us next.

Appreciate you all riding along with our little traveling circus ❤️
