Deshi TechAmma Mostly a Travel Enthusiast! Bangladeshi 🇧🇩 American đŸ‡ē🇸, Mom of Aurora, Software Engineer at Meta/Facebook(former). Bachelor: BUET, Masters: UNLV

I’m someone who finds interest in nearly everything, which makes it hard for me to settle on one thing. I tend to be restless and impulsive, always chasing the next idea or adventure. I really love the concept of being a digital nomad—working while traveling and exploring new places. However, I also have a daughter, Aurora, and a husband, Sunny, who both need stability, so the idea of being a nomad doesn’t quite seem possible

Syeda Lammim Ahad 🇧🇩

Meet an astrophysicist, currently working at the Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics (WCA) as a WCA Postdoctoral Fellow. She also completed her undergraduate studies in EEE at BUET, and is a guest researcher at Leiden Observatory, where she obtained her PhD in astrophysics. Coming from Bangladesh, where there are very few women pursuing astronomy, her journey reflects both passion and perseverance in a highly specialized field.
She studies different aspects of galaxy evolution in groups and clusters of galaxies, including the growth of their stellar content over cosmic time using data from cosmological hydrodynamic simulations (Hydrangea, EAGLE), and photometric and spectroscopic surveys (Euclid, UNIONS, KiDS, GAMA).
She has 10+ years of experience in astronomy and science outreach in Bangladesh, the Netherlands, and Canada, and strongly cares about sustainable practices in personal and professional life, as well as equity, diversity, and inclusion in science and academia.
Beyond her work, painting using different mediums, travelling, and reading are also essential parts of who she is!

When I went to the school show, she was just standing there smiling at me the whole time. Later at home though, she happily showed me her full performance. every child expresses themselves in their own comfort zone and own time
Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers 🤍

Finding your passion makes things more fun. We naturally lean into what we enjoy and let the rest fade a bit. And when studies or work align with that, it feels extra rewarding! those are very lucky!
