Another great option, especially for upright players!

Full review:

I finally got a chance to try my new UPTONe amplifier with the 1956 Ottomar Hausmann Mittenwald with a Realist pickup that I bought from you on consignment many years ago - pizzacato only (so far). I played at relatively low volume in a small room.

The results were … astonishing. The tone was warm, soft, round and full. No distortion. Nothing boomy or hollow about the low end. The mid range and the high end really sing. The bass has a beautiful refined voice.

I’m blown away by how the amplification is so true to the acoustic source - even better in some ways because you can hear more complexity in the notes.

I’m just a recreational player and a relative beginner at that but I played some cello when I was younger and I think I have a decent ear. It seems to me you’ve really got something special here.

FYI - I have an Acoustic Image Clarus SL and an Upshot speaker that a friend who is a professional musician and producer insisted I buy years ago when we saw Harvey S at a small venue because of its faithfulness to the acoustic sound of the bass. No comparison (but maybe not a fair one). The upton amp is a different world.

I also hook the Clarus up to a Genzler Series 2 BA-2 Bass Array 1x10 when I need more volume. I really like the sound but again - no comparison.

Congratulations on producing such a wonderful piece of equipment. It doesn’t do it justice to call it an “accessory.”

Mesa/Boogie sent us the new Subway+ Bass DI-Preamp II pedal to check out. I have to say, it looked super impressive, with a great feature set right out of the box, but the first thing I wanted to do was to compare it to my original Subway Bass DI-Preamp pedal. You do lose a few features, like dual XLR outs and a "Thru" output, but you can select post/pre for the Subway+ XLR, and I don't really miss the Thru option. The new Subway+ definitely brings more features to the table, and it sounds just as good. Feels like a winner! boogie
