A really cool find by Sounds of Sandusky County !
In October 1951, Hollywood actress Jeanne Crain visited Fremont, Ohio, as part of Movie Time U.S.A., a national post–World War II campaign promoting the return of moviegoing across America. This photograph shows WFRO radio host Frank Schwartz interviewing Crain in front of the Sandusky County Courthouse—it appears she may have even received a key to the city. The other individuals pictured remain unidentified.
🎬 Fun fact: Crain starred in the 1944 film A Home in Indiana, with scenes filmed at the Sandusky County Fairgrounds, home to the early horse track that later became Fremont Speedway—which, coincidentally, opened in the fall of 1951, the same time as Crain’s visit.
