📣📣📣 Tech Tip Of The Day
This applies to ATV and SXS owners. When it comes to doing your own maintenance, one thing that is always over looked is the CVT system and belt. Periodically, it’s always good to remove the belt box cover, inspect your belt for excessive wear, rips, frays etc. but also, cleaning your clutches. People would honestly be amazed by just how much belt dust build up can occur inside your clutches but also, the outside elements that get pulled thru the CVT intake especially riding in areas like the mountains near old coal mines. So what do you do? Blow your clutches out with air. Get all in the nooks and crannies the best you can if you don’t have appropriate tools to remove and disassemble them. Usually, if you do this often, it’ll help mediate excessive build up but also premature wear on clutch components. On top of that, be sure to inspect the parts of the clutch that you can physically see such as… the rollers, the cam arms/flyweights, the sheaves (make sure there isn’t excessive grooving or abrasions that can contribute to belt failure), the buttons, pins and bushings etc.. It sounds like a lot but it’s always good to over look everything to ensure you stay riding and your machine stays out the shop. And if you notice anything weird or noises all of sudden happening, consult with us or another clutching source to have your machine checked out!!! Again, what will seem like “easy and common sense maintenance” to some, doesn’t always get passed down to new riders and people that are learning as they go. It’s always good to be informative and help people!
