๐ Cold Spring, NYโs Cornish Estate ruins
The hike up meets the former driveway, now ending at railroad tracks and overgrown stone pillars down at Route 9D. Cars zooming by might not know thereโs ruins behind the foliage and winding narrow drive.
Up top, chimney stacks exposed, scattered building foundations and stone shells of a once-sprawling acreage first built in 1910.
The haunting? More a tone shift as you approach from the path than a full ghost. A โghostโ. The haunting is a lost thing, a sad temperament, and a could-have-been.
The Cornish family who lived here from 1917 to 1938 both passed within 2 weeks of each other.
I enjoy the pools still being pools, despite the very long abandonment. The one little piece that just didnโt stop.
