It’s a busy weekend! We aren’t terribly early risers, but hot air balloons and a street festival can certainly get us going. Especially when it includes an entire block of kid’s run businesses. Today is the last day of the ClovisFest Hot Air Balloon & Fun Fly Official Event . The balloons are up but the fair is just getting started. Come out and enjoy!

Today we decided to explore the Fresno Chaffee Zoo. It’s been a while since we’ve dropped in, and the zoo has continued to grow and evolve. We watched a tiger prowl and growl at the excellent new Kingdoms of Asia exhibit. And we watched an eland playfully chase an ostrich around a group of rhinos. Next on our list is the pleasantly serene butterfly exhibit. This place is truly one of Fresno’s crown jewels.

Our favorite Fresno festival is back! We’ve never missed the Fresno Greek Fest since we moved to Fresno and just can’t get enough of it. It’s a touch smaller this year, but the food and atmosphere are everything they’ve always been, and more. It ends tomorrow, so come on down if you can.

Official Big Hat Days is back and bigger than ever! The weather is great, the booths pack in an extra 3 blocks from the last time we were here, and the food is amazing! We got our traditional cinnamon roll - an all time favorite - and a squid on a stick - a new treasure. Be prepared for long lines, but tons of fun!

It is so great to see real crowds again! The Fresno Greek Fest is one of our all time favorite annual events. Great food and good times. It’s going on through Sunday and is really reasonably priced. Check it out if you have time!

Tonight is the one year anniversary at 559 Night Market. We came a bit early to check it out and we’re really impressed. It feels like something special could grow out of this. The food is great and there are a nice selection of shops and vendors. It’a definitely worth checking out.

Fresno always seems to find a way to attract the most interesting national traveling shows. For the next month or so, the Van Gogh Fresno Beyond Van Gogh exhibit will be downtown. It’s a great way to relax for a bit and enjoy some art and history.

For Mother’s Day this year we tried something new. And it was wonderful. The Fresno Philharmonic is really exceptional and a fun way to spend an afternoon. Everyone should give it a try!

We are out and about ahead of the crowds on a beautiful spring Fresno day. There are lots of vendors and food booths to explore. This is definitely one of our favorite festival events in Fresno.

We took an early morning trip to visit Big Hat Days. Things have been picking up so fast, we haven’t been able to keep up. In fact, this is the biggest turnout we’ve seen in years. You’d never know we had a pandemic. If you’ve got kids, we found a great pony ride and petting zoo. Otherwise, this place is full of small vendors and booths.

Fresno is not often lauded for its beauty. But there are some truly wonderful opportunities if you know when and where to look. Taking advantage of the beautiful weather, we took a drive along the blossom trail. Everything is just coming into bloom now, meaning it’s the perfect time to go. We even found a great little diner called, perfectly enough, The Blossom Trail Cafe. Seems the locals know this place is great, as it was jam packed. If you want a leisurely day on the roads, this is a wonderful treat.
