Say hello to our classmate, Carter Hartwig!

Nothing has eclipsed my time at Central High. Nothing. Friday Night Lights were fun and the pure emotional intensity of game nights were a prelude to my daunting future. I did not know I’d take the game of football so far. After we graduated in 1975, I chose to play at USC with a full ride scholarship and the deeply ingrained grit in me to never give up, no matter what.
Thrown into the fire best describes my time at USC and the highlight of my career came when we defeated Michigan in the Rose Bowl of my senior year and two days later we claimed the National Championship. Then I headed off to the Hula and Senior Bowls, which are post season games for seniors, whom are chosen by Pro coaches and scouts. Big dreams, demand big effort and in April 1979, I became an 8thround, NFL draft pick for the Houston Oilers. Luv ya Blue, Bum Phillips, Earl Campbell and playing with legends of the game became my life. I was shocked that I shared the field with the likes of Roger Staubach, Franco Harris, Barry Sanders, Walter Peyton, Terry Bradshaw and so many other gifted athletes. I was released in 1985 and began my career in both real estate investing and the glass business in Houston.
Since 2017, I have lived in Payson Arizona and enjoying life with building projects, exploring the Southwest on my motorcycles. My greatest accomplishment in life is my son Jarrod, and I enjoy spending time with him. I am blessed beyond measure and as Bum used to say to our team; “Football will do more for you than you will do for it”. I have found that life has done a lot for me and I am touched by the history we share.

Thank you for sharing with us, Carter!

Alrighty everyone, say hello to our classmate, Cindy Peterson!

After graduating from Central, Cindy decided to further her education and attended Fresno City College for two years and then completed her bachelor of science degree at California State University, Fresno, in 1979. Shortly after, Cindy started her career at Community Regional Medical Center as a therapist in Rehab. She worked for 43 years at Leon S Peters rehabilitation Center located in CRMC. Throughout the years, her unit was able to treat thousands of patients recovering from spinal cord injuries, strokes, and brain injuries. Cindy loved her job and the team members she worked with.

As far as travel, Cindy has enjoyed a number of trips throughout the years, such as England, Ireland and Scotland for a month. She’s been to the Hawaiian islands a number of times and enjoyed a cruise to the Caribbean. She’s always enjoyed being in the mountains and camping. In 2001 she purchased 2 acres of property in the Sierras located above Mammoth Pools. Cindy has many great memories with friends and family camping, fishing, and gathering around the firepit. She says it’s her little slice of heaven. Cindy retired two years ago and has enjoyed spending time with friends and playing golf. She doesn’t want to forget to mention her two shotgun riders and biggest fans, Dash and Biggie!

Thank you for sharing your life with us, Cindy!!

Say hi to our classmate, Janet Lawless…

Janet earned her Master's degree in Education with a Learning Handicap Teaching Credential from Fresno State. Little known fact: While at Fresno State, she and her singing partner won both local and state “Bob Hope Search for Top in Collegiate Talent” contests, representing California Colleges nationally. After graduation, she taught in San Diego for two years before transitioning into the corporate world and moving to San Francisco. After San Francisco, Janet made her way to Seattle, where she took on global leadership roles at Microsoft and Cisco focusing on compliance and security. That path led her to a cybersecurity start-up as VP of Sales. And really, with a last name like “Lawless,” how could she not end up in security? Some things are just meant to be. Today, Janet is CEO and Founder of Center for Threat Intelligence, focusing on speaking engagements, online training, and consultancy in threat intelligence. She is also involved with several industry organizations and government task forces, including the U.S. Secret Service Cyber Fraud Task Force, InfraGard, and the Washington State Fusion Center. Volunteering is an important part of Janet’s story. Janet founded PCs 2 Vets, delivering over 1,000 donated laptops to veterans. She volunteers for the American Red Cross, is an Emeritus Board member and recently received her award for 25 years of service. She is also a former board member for Big Brother/Big Sister. Janet mentions “I’m so excited to see everyone and celebrate the last 50 years.”

Thank you for sharing with us, Janet!
