A major lawsuit claims Zillow ran a coordinated steering scheme by routing buyers who clicked “Contact Agent” to Zillow-connected agents and nudging them toward Zillow Home Loans without clear disclosure. The complaint says this led to higher costs and violated federal laws that protect buyers.

Because the actions involved multiple companies working together, the case was expanded to include RICO racketeering charges. The suit argues this wasn’t a single mistake but an organized system that hid referral fees and limited buyer choice.

Takeaway: Transparency matters. Always ask questions, know who represents you, and make sure your agent is truly looking out for your best interests.
