Your refusal to pursue your goals with all your heart is making you depressed. Remember: the labor of the soul is true happiness. Anything less than that is a drag, a devaluation of self, and the imposing of a false identity to your infinite soul. For, the realization of its wise and noble vision is the sole manner in which your soul knows how to exist, to be. There's no pretense.
Eternity does not, can not, exist in multiple forms. Eternity has only one face. It's only mortality that can put on multiple faces. It's only mortal man who can look at his visage in the mirror, and when he walks away, forgets what he looks like.
Eternity, in whatever state it is, never changes. Your soul doesn't know how to desire good, yet be forced to accept less, and yet be content. The contradiction of desire and being is constraining and asphyxiating to your soul.
Your unhappiness, your mental torture originates from your own hands, when you desire good, yet fail to reach for it; when you wish to be alive and to live the excellent, inspired, and abundant life, yet continue to be bound in the chains of mediocrity, and to dwell in the tents of the uninspired.
Can you imagine how offensive it can be to an eternal being to ask it to be less than its transcendent self? The offense is as indescribable as its nature.
Give to Caesar what belongs to Caesar.
