Can't get to Avon today, looks like the next fishing day will be Sunday as we have another nor'easter Thursday. It's going to be another ugly week here. Thank God we got to tournament in last week and it looks like we may get in our tournament next week.

UPDATE @ 1:30 p.m.: NC12 is now CLOSED at the Buxton turn (from just north of Buxton to Old Lighthouse Road due to dangerous driving conditions from ocean overwash.

I can think of off the top of my head, I have heard names like “Sea Mullet”, “Whiting”, “Virginia Mullet”, “King Croaker”, and “Kingfish” to name a few. In North Carolina, the name “Sea Mullet” can be heard most often.
The Northern Kingfish has distinct, dark, curved bars and a long, thread-like filament on its first dorsal fin. The Southern Kingfish has pale, diagonal blotches or stripes and a short first dorsal spine. The Gulf Kingfish is silvery, lacks the dark markings of the others, and is distinguished by a black tip on its tail fin.
