When I think of Autumn, I think of the season's cacophony of color and scarlet leaves of the Red Maple swirling in the wind. Iris Scott captured the energy of the season perfectly with this delightful painting, which she created with her fingertips instead of brushes - and with stunning results.

Aaaargh! Due to Meta's (Facebook's) recent limits on small business pages regarding clickable links, I can no longer include my website links in my posts or comments. That's the reason I'll be sharing from my personal profile unless or until Meta surprises me again.

Go placidly amidst the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. -from "Desiderata"

I escape the noise and haste where I live on Hatteras and find peace in the silence and beauty of the island. It's those things - peace, silence, and beauty - that inspire paintings like this one, "Marsh Ways", which depicts the Great Egret fishing along the edge of the Pamlico Sound.

When Life gets me down, I take comfort in the rhythm of Nature. The dark gives way to the rising sun and sometimes a painting while birdsong lightens the weight of the world and, for a while, all is well.

Here is a watercolor, which I was commissioned to do by an out-of-town client as a gift for his wife. Her favorite vacation spot is Hatteras Island, and there's a specific part of the beach that holds special meaning to her. My client insisted that I include the ramp sign as well ("Ramp 55", as it's called). So I did.
