DR MELANIE DUNCAN, was the VETERAN seated closest to me at last night’s CELEBRATE AMERICA CONCERT, featuring SANDI PATTY, APRIL DUREN, CHARLES BILLINGSLEY & A 300 VOICE CHOIR. It took place at The Kennedy Center for the Arts in DC with approx 1,500 in attendance.
Dr Duncan, a Navy Veteran, was one of many Veterans & Active Duty Members that were honored with a special medal of “Thanks & Appreciation” for their service. All branches of service were recognized.
As EACH came forward, to stations all over the Concert Hall, local pastors placed medals over their necks. It was truly INSPIRATIONAL!
After the concert, I asked Dr Duncan, whom I did not know, if I could photograph her medal and also have a pic with her. But first, I thanked her for serving in the military for Our Great Country.
Program creator, PHIL BARFOOT, conducted the Choir, but included several guest conductors during the program. It was a GREAT NIGHT OF MUSIC!
