A bold plan to convert a dormant 50-mile rail corridor into a multi-use trail—or restore rail with a parallel trail—is making waves in Virginia. 🚧 Some call the new proposal rushed and lacking transparency, while others see opportunity for economic growth and preservation. Critics warn rail requirements could derail the entire trail project.

🗺️ Redistricting déjà vu? As Virginia Democrats weigh a bold new gerrymander targeting GOP seats, Republicans are crying foul—despite trying the same move in 2013. That year, Senate Republicans nearly pushed through a surprise mid-decade redistricting while a Democrat attended Obama’s second inauguration. The plan failed only after then-House Speaker Bill Howell ruled it out of order—despite heavy pressure from his own party. Now, history may be repeating itself—only with roles reversed.

In joining a national redistricting arms race sparked by President Donald Trump, Virginia Democrats say they may impose a maximalist gerrymander that would disadvantage four of the state’s five Republican congressional representatives. Republicans are crying foul. But 12 years ago, Republicans in ...

Youngkin vetoed dozens of clean-energy bills last spring, many are being revived as Gov.-elect Abigail Spanberger prepares to take office. From expanding rooftop solar and geothermal incentives to adding battery storage and cracking down on local roadblocks to solar development, lawmakers are looking to ease grid pressure and lower energy bills—but will it be enough to keep up with Virginia’s growing data center demand?

Last spring, Gov. Glenn Youngkin vetoed more energy bills than he signed, killing legislation designed to increase rooftop solar and energy storage, strengthen utility planning requirements, and make efficiency improvements more available to low-income residents. Now, with Abigail Spanberger set to....

As snow and ice hit the roads, it’s time to bust some common cold-weather driving myths: ✅ Idling doesn’t help much—modern engines only need 30 seconds to warm up.🚫 Winter tires help, but don’t stop danger—braking distances on ice can be 20x longer.⚖️ Extra trunk weight? Not helpful in most modern vehicles—and may hurt handling. Before your next trip, check your tires, battery, and emergency kit. And above all—slow down.

As temperatures drop and roads turn slick, many drivers may feel confident they know how to handle winter conditions. But how well do you understand the facts behind safe cold-weather driving? With winter storms and icy mornings already settling in across much of the country, now is the time to sepa...
