The journey for Omaha begins on Saturday.

You do not qualify for the State meet during the first meet of the season, but Twin River knows that if they want to get back on the state’s biggest stage, they have to put in the work every time they step on the mat.

“The most we have ever sent to State is four and we look to break that this year,” Titan coach Kalin Koch said. “Along with that, we are aiming for a Top 10 Team Finish for the first time in school history. We have two wrestlers that I believe could be state finalist caliber, along with a few others to make state, come home with a medal and score points at state.

“We want to make a statement about Twin River wrestling this season and we believe we have the team to do just that,” Koch said.

The wrestling season opens this week, and the Warriors are hitting the ground running.

Fullerton coach Zach Bialas said that his squad came into the season ready to roll and they have already gone through the basics and have been working on more advanced techniques.

“Normally you have to hit the basics and resharpen everyone,” he said. “This year it flew right past that and are exceeding where we normally are at.”

The ultimate goal for any wrestling team is to qualify as many guys for State as you can. For the Warriors, they want to get back on the medal stand.

Great things are in store for the Twin River boys’ basketball team.

This year’s squad will look to improve on the 11-14 record from a year ago. They are looking for their first winning season since 2019-2020, when the Titans went 15-10.

Titan coach Gabe Stalder likes what he sees from his team so far this season. In addition to a group of returning players, he has a couple of guys ready to slide into the rotation.
