🎣 Landing some crappie on Lake Oconee in Georgia at Reynolds Lake Oconee.

This is a great time of year to pull these fish in if you’re going for numbers. If you are after size, then spring is your time to target them.

It’s been some time since I fished for crappie so I’m brushing up on my skills.

A fabulous Facebook memory popped up today from a trip to Colombia where I stayed along the Amazon River in the heart of jungle amongst all of its critters. It’s one of the most fascinating trips I’ve ever taken to explore remote areas of our planet. The jungle was raw, enlightening and yes, at moments a bit unsettling, but wondrous nonetheless.

This photo was taken during a rest after lunch and a 3 hour relentless jungle hike. My shoes hanging from the door are to keep the resident scorpions and tarantulas from hiding in them while I kick my feet up for a few.

🎣 Freaky Fish Friday….guess the species.

🐟 Here’s a hint: If Mr.Ed was a fish instead of a horse with freaky teeth 🦷 he’d be this species that uses these human-like chompers for a diet of crustaceans and mollusks. This is a fish I caught near coral reefs.

From cast to blast! Shooting clays at the Sandy Creek Sporting Grounds at Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia is special. Why? Because the designer of the course is Welsh native Justin Jones who has incorporated finite details of authentic and traditional game shooting direct from the UK. I can appreciate these details that many Americans might miss since I live on a game shooting estate in England for part of the year. This is a stellar clay shooting course that elevates the experience. It’s only one of many sporting experiences here. Thanks Justin!

It’s been some time since I fished for crappie so it was a THRILL to go after them on Reynolds Lake Oconee in Georgia for an assignment I’m working on. We pulled them I them in like crazy on this water that has loads of submerged brush piles and even entire structures & 40 foot tall trees submerged below. Wow these are fun!! Thank you Capt. Doug Nelms of BigFishHeads for getting me on the bite.
