American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall commented on an EPA proposal to reallocate renewable fuel production that will be lost to small refinery exemptions.

“Renewable fuels are an important tool in meeting America’s domestic energy needs. EPA’s proposal takes a positive step toward strengthening the Renewable Fuel Standard and reinforcing the role farmers play in growing crops for biofuels," said President Duvall.

When it comes to mental health, one size doesn’t fit all. The Mind Your Melon Farmer Wellbeing Survey asked individuals in Florida’s agricultural industry what kinds of support would actually make a difference and they told us.

However, more than half of the survey respondents reported never using mental health services. This tells us there might be plenty of farmers and ranchers who aren’t getting the help they need.

Now’s the time to bring those ideas to life and close the gap. Let’s work together to create support systems that meet those serving Florida agriculture right where they are.

Where we can start:
✅ Normalize help-seeking
✅ Make services culturally relevant and accessible
✅ Promote prevention and early intervention for total farmer health

Through the Mind Your Melon Farmer Wellbeing Survey, we were able to get initial insight on these and other key stressors and challenges individuals in Florida’s agricultural industry are facing.

This data is critical to building the right support systems and shows where support systems can grow. By understanding what's working, we can strengthen mental health resources that feel familiar, accessible, and rooted in real life.

Do the coping mechanisms listed below resonate with? Coping mechanisms come in many different forms, including journaling, organizing, cooking and stretching.
