Red River Christian Homeschoolers

Red River Christian Homeschoolers Though centered in Gainesville, we are made up of families all over the North Central Texas area, as well as southern Oklahoma.

Red River Christian Homeschoolers is a group of homeschooling families in the Red River counties of North Texas, including Cooke, Grayson, Montague, and Denton, a well as locations in Southern Oklahoma. For more than 20 years, Red River Christian Homeschoolers has existed to provide support and friendships for homeschool families in and around the Gainesville, Texas area. Our vision is to create a

network of families who share their Christian and home school experiences together in order to uplift God, support each other, and develop meaningful friendships that will last far longer than the time our children are in school. There are no dues, by-laws, paperwork or other requirements to join this group. RRCH is the central hub of the area; on our website you will find individual groups and organizations to join.

I am currently teaching a Creative Writing class in my home. These students had to write their own commercials then got to perform them in our little recording studio. They are so creative and funny. The girls had a blast!

Students are starting to sign up for our fall classes. Some spots are still available for you to choose your preferred day for certain classes. We have also adjusted our discounts for students taking two or more classes and for sibling groups. Our email is on the website.

From Gary: Lesson plans are being prepared for a full slate of history classes, designed to fulfill minimum state Social Studies requirements, to be offered beginning in August.
But my passion for history far transcends public school mandates. I am always prepared to lead in-depth studies in historical subject matter customized to match student interest. Check out the course offerings for suggested topics.

Check out this latest podcast with Liberty McArtor. She is interviewing Brant Hansen regarding anger and offenses. It is a timely subject for me right now and I was really convicted. If you haven't heard Brant speak or read any of his books, you should check him out as well.

Why Know Why? Maybe you were raised in church and want to know if there is a reason behind the things you were taught to believe. Maybe you aren’t religious at all, but you’re interested in different perspectives on morality. No matter where you’re coming from, it’s not enough to know what p...

Look at the differences between a typical preschool child’s hand (left) and a typical 7 year old hand (right). Want to know why a preschool aged child isn’t able to write yet? This is why! Their hands are still developing and are not fully formed. So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. All of these things help their hands develop. When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready!

Happy Flag Day - Today is the anniversary of the adoption on June 14, 1777, by the Continental Congress of the Stars and Stripes as the official flag of the United States of America.

Practice handwriting with Star Spangled Banner cursive copywork! There are 10 pages total, including the history behind the song. Copy work and graphics are formatted so that pages may be hole-punched and put in a binder.

Students may choose to write directly on the pages or copy it onto notebook paper. This is perfect for Flag Day or a greater study of the War of 1812 or American History.

After talking to a family with multiple ages recently I realized there might be a need for a small coop that would cost zero dollars. It would mainly be for families that have multiple ages. I thought we could see if there were about 3 or 4 families that would coop together for school. Basically one family would keep the toddlers/ pre-k kids at their house. Another would take the early elementary kids at their house, another the middle school, etc. It could be a Monday, Tues., Wednesday type model. The other days each family has their own kids at home to work on any homework assignments, reinforce what they have been working on, etc. If that is something you are interested in, please comment with child's age/grade and which grades you prefer to work with. It could also be a month by month commitment. That way everyone can see how the program is working/not working, etc. It would especially be helpful for someone who just needs a break in routine for a couple months, etc. It might turn out to be ideal for the school year. Anyway, just throwing out some thoughts. The one family I know that is interested is in Gainesville.
