3 different times I heard it said in the exact same week; once by my Pastor in a Sunday service, the following Tuesday by my Menâs Group Leader, and again that Thursday watching a well-known Pastorâs preaching on YT; âWhat You Take In, Is What You Put Outâ I knew hearing that phrase and lesson that many times consecutively, God was speaking to, and teaching me⊠We often disregard it or donât even pay it mind, but what we take in via the media we consume, does indeed have an effect on us. It affects our heartsâ, mindsâ, speech, and even our heart posturesâ. At the time I was most prevalently consuming True Crime Podcasts, depressing love songs, and drama-filled shows; and I had the depressive & reactive state to match⊠As a man dedicated to growing closer and becoming more like Christ I knew this needed to change, and as I progressed on my walk, my convictions grew, which only aided me in this. Even trying to watch something popular in the secular world like âLove is Blindâ on Netflix, where premarital relations are normalized, was something I no longer wanted to take in as my convictions and heart posture molded; no longer making such things ânormalâ to me⊠You canât want to be like Christ and normalize this, and believe me, given my past, I feel like a complete hypocrite saying that, but just the fact that I can and am, only further shows me that Christ truly is working in my life and heart. I canât overstate it enough, if you are only taking in secular shows filled with drama or toxicity, where all the characters gossip behind each othersâ backs but then act friendly in person, I promise you itâll be what you start to do as well, (if youâre not already), if all youâre listening to is music that objectifies women, promotes lust, or is just downright depressing, youâll find yourself thinking and acting those very same waysâŠ. But, if you stay in The Word, immerse yourself in Christian-based media, worship music, Christian podcasts, and shows like The Chosen; something will change in you; you will begin to see things differently and youâll begin to feel differently in ways I cannot fully explain⊠Give it a try, I promise you will not regret it and youâll find Christ everyday⊠Because âWhat you take in, is most certainly, what youâll put outâ⊠GOD BLESS YOU!
