Eight Kiwanis members were present at the weekly luncheon meeting at Morello’s. President Field stated May 4, 2025 is the Bowling Fundraiser. Jessica Stephens stated Peanut Day is June 4 or 14th. Harrisburg Superintendent Amy Dixon’s guest speaker Natalie Fry, Harrisburg High School Curriculum Coordinator. A.I. is the ability for machine/computer to perform. Tasks that typically require human intelligence. Employers want employees to use A.I. to get immediate response. Fry explained how teachers and students may use A.I. The user of A.I. needs to check for accuracy. Using A.I. to impersonate someone is a felony. Parents should also be involved with child technology time. The Harrisburg Kiwanis was pleased to welcome Doug Berry as a new member on May 21, 2025 at the luncheon meeting at Morello’s. Kiwanis member Dave Morris sponsored Doug Berry as a new member. President Malinda Field read the Kiwanis new member script and club members present stood and clapped welcoming Doug.

Ayn Bartok’s guest speaker was Lara Shaw of Hope Haven at the Wednesday, June 25, 2025 luncheon meeting at Morello’s. Fourteen Kiwanis members and guests were present. President Field announced Pancake Day is September 13th and Steak Fry is September 24th. Shaw stated her focus was to provide holistic services and begin to fill gaps of resources. Twelve Rotarians were present at the Rotary luncheon on June 30, 2025 at Morello’s.
Angela Rowe’s guest speaker was Mikilyn Walker, Center Director for Active Day. The Active Days provides adult day health services in Marion at 900 Skyline Dr. Breakfast, lunch and evening meals are provided. Medication management, activities, games, etc. are all provided for the special adults. Nurses are also available. The Harrisburg Rotary was pleased to have the Harrisburg Swim Team representative give an update on happenings of the swim team. The update was Monday, July 7, 2025 at the Rotary luncheon at Morello’s.
Susan Sursa introduced Jordan Hicks, Assistant Coach of the Harrisburg Team, and said the number of participants has increased from 70 in 2024 to 111 in 2025. Participants vary in age from 4 years to 15 years. The season is from June to July. Four fundraisers and donations help support the swim team. Membership dues are charged to help fund the swim team.

The Harrisburg Kiwanis was pleased to donate to the new Miss Saline Fair Pageant of Little Miss Pageant and Queen contest. Cindy Banks is the coordinator of the event. The Queen will participate in events at the Saline County Fair, July 20–26, 2025.

Ten Rotary Members were present at the Monday, June 23, 2025 luncheon meeting at Morello’s. Linda Mitacek’s guest speaker was Roger Apple, a board member of 4C’s.
The 4C’s was created in 2007, with its name standing for Christian Community Compassion Center. The four parts of the 4C’s include a Homeless Center that provides a place for people to stay for a short period, Helping Hands which is open every Tuesday to assist people with utilities, a Clothes Closet that operates Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with all clothing donated, and a Food Pantry that is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., serving approximately 400 to 500 households per month. The Food Pantry service is limited to residents of Saline County.

Harrisburg Kiwanis had eleven members present at the Wednesday, July 9, 2025 luncheon meeting at Morello’s. President Malinda Field stated upcoming events are Pancake Day – September 13th and Steak Fry – September 24th.
Mary Jo Agin’s guest speaker was Laura Thomas of Kaden’s Closet. Kaden’s Closet stresses helping adopted families and children with their physical needs. Clothing is available for the children. Kaden’s Closet is located 1204 Locust St, Bldg E, Eldorado.
