The Weekly luncheon meeting of the Harrisburg Rotary was held Monday, October 28, 2024 at Morello’s. President Ashley mentioned Cusumano & Sons gift boxes for Thanksgiving will be available on November 23rd with a deadline to order being November 18th.
Guest speaker was Dr. Amy Dixon, Superintendent of Harrisburg Unit Schools. Dixon stated that the Harrisburg school system recently received a commendable rating. Harrisburg is also no longer on the state financial list. Recently Harrisburg received grants that was used for constructing a trades building that is currently being built for all the trades programs. Those programs have helped HHS graduation rate going from 76% in the past to 84.9% now. Shown in photo are Dr. Amy Dixon and President Ashley Forcum.

Karen Henderson of the 4C’s received a $500 donation from the Harrisburg Kiwanis on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at the luncheon meeting at Morello’s. Henderson gave an update on the food pantry, clothes closet and homeless shelter. Henderson also stated that approximately 1600 residents are served yearly. Kroger, Aldi and Wal-Mart are donors to 4C’s. Churches, businesses and locals also donate cash that is used to purchase groceries and items as needed. The Harrisburg Kiwanis had a special guest from IDHS (Illinois Department of Human Services) at the noon luncheon meeting at Morello’s on Wednesday, January 29, 2025. Eight Kiwanis members were present. Acting President Jessica Stephens reminded members to turn in auction items by January 31 for the Radio Auction on February 15th. Dave Morse’s guest speaker was Rob Nelson of IDHS. The IDHS has a division of Rehabilitation Services and Vocational Rehabilitation services at their office located at 323 S. Maple St. in Harrisburg.
Nelson told about the services IDHS has available for persons with disabilities. For more information, contact their office at 618-253-7681.

Rotary Glo-Bingo
The Harrisburg Rotary held a Glo-Bingo on Tuesday, March 27, 2025 at Morello’s. The banquet room was full of bingo players having a lot of fun.
