The Breakthrough. Chapter 4: Identifying the missing passenger
For 13 years, after leaving active duty in 2012 and serving a little over 11 years in police work (including 5 years Guard/Reserves), I carried a โmissing passenger.โ A piece of me was lost, searching for purpose beyond the uniform.
Then, 2016 happened. My daughter was born. That precious little human genuinely saved my life. She became the light, pulling me from the darkness.
Now, after putting away the last uniform in 2024, this past year has been about finding who I am and who I want to become. My incredible wife has been my rock, rebuilding me piece by piece. My mornings start with conversations with my 9-year-old, seeing the amazing human she is becoming, leading with care and nurture.
And my purpose is clear: in my new career, I now have the privilege of supporting my fellow veterans, ensuring no one else feels like that โmissing passenger.โ This is my rebirth.
To my amazing children (my 23 and 20-year-old stepsons too!), my wife, and my fellow veterans: you are my purpose. If youโve ever felt lost, found your light, or had someone save your life without knowing it, I see you. You are not alone. โค๏ธ
