Chronic pain doesn’t need to rule your life—there’s hope. Dr. Mark Groff is the Owner and Director of the Disc Centers of America Gallatin, and he’s passionate about helping patients heal without invasive surgery so they can get their lives back. He often sees patients who work around their pain and limit what they do, but he says, “that many times they don’t have to stay that way…there is hope that they can feel better and reclaim some of those activities that they love so much.”

The pathway to recovery? Non-surgical spinal decompression. “Many of these conditions can be helped through non-surgical decompression, where you stimulate tissue to grow back instead of removing it. This has become a fantastic option to restore the tissue that has deteriorated or worn thin,” says Dr. Groff. “With non-surgical spinal decompression, the body heals from the inside out instead of something that is done to you from the outside in.”

Patients commonly come to him with low back pain, neck pain, knee pain, spinal stenosis, disc degeneration, spinal disc bulge, and more, with people seeing treatment success well into the 90th percentile. People can see improvements as early as weeks two or three of treatment, reigniting hope that life can be different.

For Dr. Groff, the driving motivation behind his practice is to help people return to the things they love or have avoided because of pain. “If you listen to your patients, they will explain the things that they are missing out on, and we try to make those our goals to get back.” He knows healing can change the lives of his patients and their families. That’s why he and the entire staff offer meticulous care to help people achieve their goals.

Free consultations are available to see if non-surgical spinal decompression is a good fit for you. Visit www.gallatindisccenter.com to schedule an appointment and experience the thorough, personalized care from Dr. Groff and his team.

Today we're celebrating the men who help shape our communities...not just at home, but in our businesses, churches, schools, ballfields, and neighborhoods.

The fathers who stay late.
The grandfathers who tell the stories.
The coaches who invest in the next generation.
The business owners building a legacy for their families.
The men who quietly serve without asking for recognition.

We are grateful for the men who help make Gallatin the place we call home.

Happy Father's Day from Gallatin City Lifestyle.

Big news for local healthcare.

Highpoint Health - Sumner with Ascension Saint Thomas has expanded its orthopedic services with the addition of the CORI™ Surgical System, an advanced robotic-assisted technology designed to help surgeons perform more precise, personalized knee replacement procedures.

The new system provides real-time guidance during surgery based on each patient's unique anatomy, with the potential for improved alignment, less postoperative discomfort, and a smoother recovery.

Dr. William Beauchamp recently performed the hospital's first procedure using the technology, marking another step forward in bringing innovative healthcare options closer to home for Gallatin and surrounding communities.

Ikaria Infusions & Aesthetics gets its name from a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, where health and longevity are abundant. Co-founders Debra Kilpatrick and Audrey Frazier are working on bringing that quality of well-being from Greece to Gallatin. The two registered nurses have nearly two decades of experience in traditional healthcare and are passionate about their work because they believe “true wellness begins before illness. Rather than waiting for burnout, fatigue, or visible signs of aging, clients are encouraged to take a proactive approach—supporting their bodies from the inside out.”

While infusion and aesthetic treatments have often been marketed to women, men are recognizing the value of these services. “Today, more men are stepping into the world of preventative wellness, not out of vanity, but out of a desire to feel better, perform better, and maintain their health long-term.” They’re experiencing this shift firsthand.

“We’re seeing a growing number of men who are prioritizing how they feel just as much as how they look. They’re coming in for energy support, recovery, and subtle treatments that help them maintain a natural, refreshed appearance. It’s not about drastic change—it’s about optimization.”

They say IV hydration therapy is one of the most popular entry points for men interested in prioritizing preventive wellness. “[It’s] a service designed to replenish fluids, vitamins, and nutrients quickly and effectively. Whether it’s for travel recovery, immune support, or simply keeping up with a demanding schedule, many male clients appreciate the efficiency and immediate impact.” They’re also seeing a growing interest in aesthetic treatments, skincare, and facials.

James W. Story discovered his calling at a young age. “Growing up with a father who was a musician, I was surrounded by sound, rhythm, and expression from the very beginning. That foundation, combined with the powerful influence of church music and the excitement of beginning band, set me on a clear path.”

He not only developed his musical gifts—he also began to thrive as a leader and teacher. Serving in the role of drum major in middle school, high school, and again in college at Tennessee Technological University, Story realized music was “something I was called to pursue, develop, and share with others for a lifetime.”

Inspired by his mother’s emphasis on hard work and perseverance, along with encouragement from mentors who believed in Story, he went on to become a first-generation college graduate with the highest distinction honors. His experience developed a desire to give back as an educator in ways his teachers had throughout his journey. “They showed me that strong teachers do more than teach notes and rhythms…Through their care for students, I saw how music can build confidence, inspire excellence, and truly change lives.”

Story carried this lesson into his career. He taught at White House High School for four years, then taught band and chorus at Gallatin High School, before joining Volunteer State Community College to develop curriculum for music education and recording programs. Along the way, he “always hoped to pass along that same joy, passion, and belief in potential to the students and musicians I’ve taught and directed throughout my career.”

His hard work has paid off. “Many [former students] have become teachers, performers, recording artists, dancers, visual artists, and authors…Those moments are some of the greatest joys of my life. They remind me that when you teach with passion and purpose, the impact of music and creativity can continue for generations.” He also earned a spot as a Grammy Music Educator Award Semi-Finalist, affirming the power of his work in the arts.
