🎃👻 Happy Halloween, Sumner County!👻🎃
Tonight’s forecast is sweet as candy!

You’ll be out under mostly clear skies with cool temps in the 40s and 50s, perfect for trick-or-treating without melting your chocolate bars. Winds stay light (around 2–6 mph) with only a slight chill — no spooky gusts tonight!

The calm continues into tomorrow morning but keep an eye west of I-65 by mid-afternoon Saturday. That’s when rain chances start to creep back in, spreading east by tomorrow night. I’ll take a deeper dive into how long it sticks around — and any thunder potential — after the latest models roll in tonight or when I get done eating all the Halloween candy!

Have a fun and safe Halloween out there! 🍬

📅 October 26 – November 1 Weather Report:

Here comes the rain again, folks — and this time, it’s sticking around awhile. A broad area of light to moderate rain is pushing east from I-65 this morning, slowly moistening those dry low-levels we’ve been dealing with. Once the atmosphere saturates, Middle Tennessee will be in for several days of good, old-fashioned soaking rain.

We’ve got a deep upper-level low spinning near the Ozarks and a weak surface low rotating through the Mississippi Delta — the perfect recipe for steady rainfall. No big thunderstorm outbreaks expected this go-round — instability stays minimal — but we’ll see consistent rain chances right through midweek.

🌧️ Rain Chances:

Sunday–Monday: 85–97% (expect widespread rain)
Tuesday: Slight break, 50–60%
Wednesday–Thursday: Another system rolls in (60–80%)
Friday–Saturday: Drier skies return

💨 Winds: Breezy at times, gusting 15–20 mph through midweek.
🌡️ Temps: Highs in the 50s–60s, lows dropping into the 40s by Halloween.
🎃 Halloween Outlook: Cooler, mostly dry, with light winds — perfect for trick-or-treaters!

The good news? No flooding concerns at this time. The ground’s been thirsty, and this steady rain should help chip away at our drought conditions. Expect cooler air to settle in late week, with temps 5–10° below normal heading into next weekend.

So keep the rain gear handy, grab that jacket, and maybe toss an extra towel in the truck — this week’s mission is all about staying dry and keeping watch on that next system coming midweek.

Today’s Setup

We’re closing out this Saturday under a thickening deck of mid and high clouds — those wispy veils are thanks to moisture building above 700mb. The air closer to the ground is still fairly dry, which is why most of what you’re seeing on radar this afternoon is virga — rain evaporating before it reaches the surface.

High pressure that’s been parked to our east has loosened its grip, so our winds are now shifting out of the ESE. That means we’re starting to pull in a little more warmth and moisture. Temperatures today topped out in the upper 60s to low 70s — mild, comfortable, and likely the warmest we’ll see for a while as a strong system brews to our west.

Tonight

An upper-level low is spinning over the southern Plains, slowly making its way east. As it does, warm air advection ramps up after midnight, increasing our rain chances — especially toward daybreak Sunday. Expect skies to stay mostly cloudy with lows in the mid-40s to lower 50s. A few sprinkles or light showers could sneak through tonight, but the more widespread rain arrives by sunrise.

If you’ve got evening plans — maybe heading to a fall festival or just relaxing on the porch — keep a light jacket handy and maybe a cup of cocoa nearby. It’s not cold, but it’s got that cozy “pre-rain” chill in the air.

Sunday Preview

By sunrise tomorrow, moisture will surge northward as a developing low-pressure system along the Gulf Coast teams up with that upper-level low. Expect rain to become more widespread through the day — beneficial rain, too. We’ve been on the dry side lately, so this is a welcome drink for the ground. There’s even a small chance for a few rumbles of thunder late in the day.

Good morning, weather peeps, and how is everyone on this fine, fabulous, frosty Friday morning. That's right, we've got frost this morning in some of the colder spots and maybe a handful of you are seeing actual temperatures of 32° or below. This is the coldest morning we're going to see for awhile, as low temperatures the next several nights will moderate somewhat. We've got two more days with low rain chances, then rain will return to the forecast beginning Sunday and persisting well into next week. Temperatures will stay reasonably close to seasonal norms, maybe a bit cooler than normal for parts of next week. Indeed, we're finally moving into some classic autumn weather.

Did you know you can see Comet Lemmon Tonight Over Middle Tennessee!

Look to the northwest sky after 7pm — Comet Lemmon is visible near the Big Dipper, glowing faintly green. Tonight (Oct 21) is the best time to view it thanks to a new moon and clear skies across much of the region.

🔭 Tips:
• Find a dark-sky spot
• Bring binoculars or a small telescope for a closer look
• Use a stargazing app to locate it easily
• Visible through early November!

Post your comet photos and tag — let’s see who spots it first!

We’ll get a real taste of that crisp fall air Wednesday night through Friday as a dry high-pressure system settles over Tennessee.

Expect cold mornings Thursday and Friday — lows dipping into the mid-30s to near 40°. Patchy frost is likely both mornings, especially in valleys and rural spots. If you’ve got sensitive plants, go ahead and cover them up!

Friday morning could even see a few pockets of freezing temps.

After that, things warm up a bit this weekend. We’ll turn milder with some rain chances returning late in the weekend into early next week — though the exact timing’s still a bit uncertain.

Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, this is that perfect fall weather we wait for all year!

⚡️“Great Scott, Sumner County!” ⚡️

It’s Back to the Future Day, and we’ve got a forecast even Doc Brown would approve of!

Roads? Where we’re going… we don’t need rain.

A cold front has zipped across Middle Tennessee today—think of it like our DeLorean hitting 88 mph through a time portal. A few light showers are tagging along down southeast, but for most of us in Sumner County, it’s just a quick breeze and a whole lotta sunshine once the front passes.

🌤 This Afternoon:
Mild and breezy! Northwest winds gusting up to 25 mph will make it feel fresh. Highs in the upper 60s to low 70s, perfect flux-capacitor-tuning weather.

🌙 Tonight:
Skies clear, temps drop fast—down to the upper 30s and mid-40s. Marty might need his denim jacket for this one.

🍂 Wednesday:
Cool, crisp, and dry—classic post-frontal perfection. Highs in the 60s, breezy at times, and totally Hill Valley-approved.

So keep your eyes on the skies (and not on the clock tower ⚡️).
Whether it’s 1955, 1985, or 2025—I've got your forecast covered.
