Last week I attended the Yamaha & Universal Audio clinic @ Yamaha Audio Lab Nashville (Soundcheck), "Art of Building a Fly Pack" with Todd Wines, Mon Oct 27

Todd provided very useful pieces of advice into utilizing UAD Apollo x16D’s along with Yamaha’s Rivage PM mixing platform…the attendees were a who’s who of mixing engineers in town!

"and" winning a pair of Yamaha HS7 Studio Monitors in the raffle was a great bonus!
These little guys really surprised me, if any of you cut your teeth on NS-10’s the HS7’s are not a sealed enclosure, with a rear port you’ll appreciate being able to now hear some tight low end, mids are natural and a very accurate compression driver for the highs…I listened to these for hours in my shop and never experienced ear fatigue that is common with many studio monitors.

Custom design drummer isolation cage!
This is our new drum shield for Jimmy Bowen and Friends TV taping of upcoming Season 12.
I designed this on a bar napkin (well not really), modeled after the Grand Ole Opry's drum cage (which has been a staple for isolating those punchy drum sounds in their live setups) scaled it down for the tighter stage at the Texas Troubadour Theatre.
It'll definitely cut down on snare bleed into the vocal mics, giving us cleaner tracks and more room in the mix for everything else during the Season 12 tapings.
An awesome upgrade for the show!

And my new shoes just in time for Winter!

We want to extend a HUGE HUGE HUGE, congratulations to our audio production manager, assistant producer, friend and just an all around great friend. He is a pro and we couldn't do it with out him. Mr. Tony Cottrill, owner of Lonely Dog Productlons Inc., is being inducted into The Ohio Country Music Hall of Fame , Saturday , July 26th. We are so proud and excited for Tony. Way to go my friend.
