After eight years of dedicated service as an Explosives Detection and Patrol dog with the BNSF Railway Police Force, Faust, a German Shepherd, received an emotional farewell. On March 3, 2017, he completed his final shift, riding one last time with his handler, Senior Special Agent Bryan Schaffer. Faust was honored with a final radio call, marking the end of his career. "Faust, thank you for your service to the BNSF Railway and most importantly, for serving and protecting your handler," the dispatcher announced. The video of the moment, which touched over 720,000 viewers, shows the deep bond between Faust and Schaffer. After retiring, Faust became part of Schaffer’s family and was inducted into the WRTP Hall of Fame in recognition of his service.
