Seaford resident Ryan Clifford ran his way into the record books this month, completing the 572-mile stretch of the Empire State Trail from Buffalo to Brooklyn in just over eight and a half days.

Clifford, 28, was honored by Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman at an Oct. 16 news conference at the Theodore Roosevelt Executive and Legislative Building in Mineola.

A graduate of MacArthur High School in Levittown, Clifford thanked his family and friends for supporting him on what he called “a big journey,” which took him eight days and 13 hours, shattering the previous record of nine days, 11 hours, set in May 2024 by Matthew VosBurgh, a New York City-based ultramarathoner.

Seaford High School hosted the first annual Bill Bongiorno Car Show on Oct. 4, raising funds for scholarships that support students pursuing a trade school education.

The show was held in honor of Bongiorno, an alumnus of the high school who died in February at age 76 after being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May 2024. His wife, Catherine, said he had a special place in his heart for Seaford, and that the scholarship created in partnership with the high school is a fitting way to pay tribute to him.

“Just to know that his legacy is continuing through such a good cause would mean so much to him, because he loved to work with his hands and create things,” Catherine Bongiorno, who lives in Seaford, said. “To know that these kids are benefitting from money we’ve raised because of who Bill was — it’s quite a heartwarming experience, and it’s just so great to know that his name continues to be a part of Seaford High School.”

Nassau County homeowners are bracing for rising taxes and unexpected expenses that always seem to pile up. Luckily, they can authorize Maidenbaum to file their property tax grievance for the 2027/28 tax year.

Acting early makes all the difference, because waiting too long could mean missing opportunities, or worse, ending up with a company that doesn’t have the experience to represent you properly. Don’t let misleading promises impact your results – if something seems too good to be true, it usually is!

Seaford resident Daniella Giantasio is desperately seeking to raise money to help cover the cost of life-saving kidney surgery for her 21-month-old daughter, Mia.

Mia was born with multiple rare health conditions, including renal artery stenosis, a narrowing of one or both arteries that supply blood to the kidneys, and aneurysms — a dangerous combination that has caused lasting damage to both of her kidneys. Due to the severity of her condition, doctors have determined Mia must undergo surgery to remove both kidneys and eventually be the recipient of a kidney transplant.
