Thank you to Sven for reminding us it is the 6th birthday of Be Well debut album, The Weight and the Cost!
When my friend Aaron Dalbec hit me up about a new band he had with the singer of my all-time favorite hardcore bands, Battery DC , I was excited.
Unfortunately, the timing was off. This must have been late 2019, and we had a big release planned for another band that would have taken up all of the label’s resources, and I had to unfortunately decline.
Thankfully, Aaron was persistent, and the other band’s album turned into hardcore’s “Chinese Democracy” (a story for another day), and we co-released The Weight and the Cost with Equal Vision Records .
Thankfully, everyone liked the idea of working with different artworks for both versions. The record came out in the middle of Covid-19. Everyone was unsure if people would buy records at all, which resulted in very conservative first pressings. But the European press ate up the album, and Brian McTernan highly emotional lyrics connected deeply with people, leading to several represses as reflected in the picture. Thank you to all members of Be Well and all the people that picked up one or many of the versions.
